Quick Links
Part of the fun ofMLB The Show 24is knowing how to play both sides of that field, and that means being capable of making the right decisions defensively. It ultimately comes down to reaction time and knowing where to throw the ball, and the throwing settings a player uses will help make or break a game.
There are a few different settings to test out inMLB The Show 24, each coming with its strengths and weaknesses, and no glove fits all. It’s bound to happen when mistakes are made, and a wild throw ends up trailing into the outfield and earning the player an unforced error. This guide will go over each throwing mode and help players decide which one is the way to go.

Button Accuracy
Button accuracy throwing will feel intimidating at first, and it may not be recommended for most people until they are fully comfortable withthe mechanics ofMLB The Show 24. Players will be tested on their reaction time in two areas; selecting the correct base and landing the dial in the green.
This makes every pick-up and throw crucial, as landing the dial on anything outside the green could send the ball into the dirt, making it difficult for the basemen to make a catch. Landing the ticker in the red, and players will likely receive an unforced error as they throw the ball into the outfield.

Buttons
Buttons mode takes the stress out of making a precise throw by removing the ticker box, allowing players to focus on selecting the correct base to throw. This mode will bring ease of mind to players who already struggle to select the correct base to throw, permitting them to work on their decision-making and reaction time.
The one major flaw with this mode is that it fully relies on the player’s stats, such as arm strength and arm accuracy, to make a good throw. Not everyone can beDerek Jeter inMLB The Show 24, but thankfully, the chances of performing a poor throw are lower than doing so using the Button Accuracy setting.

Analog
Alternatively to the buttons, players can also use the right analog to quickly make throws. Players won’t need to worry about timing the power of a throw, but instead use the analog system and aiming it towards the base that a player is running towards. This makes double plays feel easier, as swiping the analog in quick succession feels smooth enough to pull off.
There is one major issue with this mode, and it involves the accuracy of the analog itself. Slightly miscalculating the direction of the throw could have players tossing the ball to the wrong base, or away from the play entirely. Players looking to be a goodinfielder inMLB The Show 24may shy away from using this mode, especially if they continue to miss out on those routine double plays.

Auto Throwing
Auto throwing is for those looking for theeasiest difficulty inMLB The Show 24, as the CPU’s AI will determine the best possible outcome when throwing the ball. Once a ball is hit, players can catch up to the ball and let the game’s AI do its work. Like Buttons and Analog, this mode will take into account the thrower’s arm accuracy and strength, leaving room for error.
Choose this mode if it’s the first time picking up aMLB The Show 24, or if defense is not easy to master. There’s no shame in allowing the Auto Throwing mode to take the front seat and help out, and if it means picking up a few extra wins inthe Road to the Show mode, using any help available is never a bad option.
