Despite the continued shortages, the GPU world is not standing idly by, especially with the next generation looming ahead. WithNvidia’s RTX 40-series due out this September, andAMDlooking to compete with its RDNA 3 range, the two tech behemoths are continuing to battle it out for market supremacy. However, there are still a few months of this generation left, and it’s with that that team red has recently launched three refresh graphics cards from its 6000 series.

That’s according to a recent report from GamesRadar, which says that theAMD6X50 cards are now available. There are also a number of retailers listed which should be stocking the RX 6650 XT, RX 6750 XT, and RX 6950 XT. At the time of writing, Best Buy do appear to have at least one of the 6650 GPUs in, as well as the 6750. Sadly, no luck for the 6950 yet. The UK website Overclockers yields similar results, with no listing for the RX 6950, and some of the 6650s only available for pre-order.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6X50 refresh rangehas been the most recent launch from Lisa Su and co, with the three SKUs being re-releases of their respective predecessors. With Nvidia also launching its beastly RTX 3090 Ti, and newcomers Intel getting ready to launch the desktop variant of its Arc product, though there may be some delays on that front, all three are eking out as much as possible from this current generation. Of course, even though these new cards from team red have just become available, the retail listings only seem to highlight that there’s still a problem supply-wise.

Although there were hopes that the situation that has been ongoing for a while now may have been improving, it’s possible that thechip shortages could be ongoing until 2024. This means that, even when Ada Lovelace and RDNA 3 become available, there’s reason to suspect that things won’t be much better than they currently are, with many struggling to purchase not just new graphics cards, but current gen consoles as well.

Interestingly though, graphics card prices are continuing to come down, which may be sending mixed messages to people who are wanting to buy an Nvidia orAMDproduct. It seems as though hardware is getting closer to being at MSRP again, and there’s obviously a lot of choice out there, especially with these new RX refresh cards, but it may all be for naught if retailers are struggling to get hold of enough of them.
