There are a total of 69 shells inAnother Crab’s Treasure, but not all of them complement the game’sfast-paced and constantly aggressive combat. Kril might look like an innocent little hermit crab, but he’s more than capable of dishing out some damage – especially when he is using a shell with powerful offensive abilities.
Some ofthe best combat shellswill give Kril an ability that outright deals damge to a target, like the Soda Can’s shell ability Fizzle. But others are some of the best combat shells inAnother Crab’s Treasurebecause of how they enable Kril to fully engage in combat without worrying about incoming damage, like the Yoccult shell. At the end of the day, only one is the undisputed best attacking shell – and it barely even counts as a shell.
5Soda Can (& Other Fizzle Shells)
Shell Ability: Fizzle
The Soda Can, and other Shells that have the Fizzle ability, might not be the most impressive in terms of defense, weight, and the actual durability of the shell. But if you may stay agile in combat, and use the Soda Can’s shell ability to keep the heat on a target, these downsides are negligible.
The Fizzle shell ability simply blasts a small burst of bubbles right in front of Kril, which will hone towards an enemy when they get too close. These don’t do a lot of damage, but the fact that each bubble does any damage at all meansyour enemy’s Capsize meter won’t go down. Interweave attacks and Fizzle in boss fights to keep their yellow stagger bar from diminishing, even as you evade away.
4Party Hat
Shell Ability: Party Time!
The Party Hat is another shell that has relatively low defenses, though being in the Small weight class makes Kril more able to avoid enemy attacks. However, the Party Hat’s shell ability Party Time! is useful as a kind of combo extender, just like the Soda Can.
When used, Party Time! sees Kril blast backward and interrupt their target, as long as they are within range. This works on a variety of enemies and many boss moves too, and it’s worth treating it as aBloodborne-like Parry, in which players interrupt enemies with a quick well-timed shot from their gun.
3Crab Husk
Shell Ability: Decoy
The Crab Husk on its own is not a bad shell at all. With 30 Defense and in the Small weight class, the Crab Husk is a Shell that Kril can hide in for a long time. But in terms of being one of the best attacking shells inAnother Crab’s Treasure, the Crab Husk’s shell ability is what makes it rank so high.
When used, the Decoy ability sees Kril jump out of his shell as the enemy continues to attack the husk for a few seconds. As long as you can quickly get back into another shell, or are willing to risk being hit andinstantly dying outside of a shell, Kril can use the time that the target is distracted to absolutely wail on them.
2Yoccult
Shell Ability: Probiotic
Yoccult is a bit lackluster in terms of defensives and weight class, with a meager 20 Defense and in the Medium weight class. However, the shell ability Probiotic is arguably one of themost powerful effects in the game, for its cost and how powerful its effect is.
When used, Probiotic heals Kril over time for the next few moments. The amount healed is significant, though, as Kril can easily heal through two or three major hits without having to use a Kelp Pod. Use the Yoccult shell when going into a fight you know will be hard to avoid taking damage in, so you may continue to attack through attacks that hit you. The Yoccult shell will break fairly easily, but you can pop off the ability one last time before it breaks and the effect should still heal you.
1The Gun
Shell Ability: Shoot
When it comes down to it, the best shell inAnother Crab’s Treasureis one that you actually can’t find anywhere naturally in-game. The Gun is an item that players can only get via the Accessibility options forAnother Crab’s Treasure, specifically the Assist Mode settings in the main Options menu.
Scroll down to"Give Kril A Gun" in this sub-menuto instantly equip Kril with the Gun shell. It has a huge 50 Defense (but a Large weight class), but the shell ability Shoot literally kills any enemy in one hit. Though it’s intended to be a kind of easy mode item, it still is technically the most powerful offensive shell inAnother Crab’s Treasure– and it counts as part of your shell collection.
