Yet another supposedDestiny 2leak has made its way with information about theupcoming Year 4 expansion. At this point, the rumored details have varied significantly, but this is the first that tries to clarify what one of the past leaks explained, albeit with further detail.
First and foremost, anyDestiny 2Year 4 information should be taken with a grain of salt. Like theHalo Infinite“leaks”there are a lot of fans out there that like to indulge their creative aspirations by crafting convincing details. Sometimes these story details are rooted in that person’s fantasies (i.e. what they would like to see), while other times the more convincing leaks try to draw from existingDestiny 2lore.

The latest of these supposedDestiny 2Year 4 leaks claims that the expansion is calledDestiny 2: Dark Omens, notCollapse like the other rumors, and it will kick off with Season 12, Season of Dusk. As has been previously speculated and rumored, the pyramid ships will arrive with Dark Omens and will destroy Titan with a massive weapon. Guardians will then head out to the moon of Europa to create a forward operating base and to push back The Darkness.
The Darkness in Dark Omens is known as The Veil, which is another rumored name for the race controlling theadvancing pyramid ships. The Veil will come in a handful of different forms, some mirroring existing races and others completely new. The leak details Spectres, Rooks, Pawns, Bishops, Gargoyles, and Golems as the main cannon fodder from The Veil.
It has been a while sinceDestiny 2introduced a completely new enemy race, so there is a lot of anticipation behind players’ first showdown with The Darkness. The different enemy types do sound unique, but the naming choice might give it away as fake. Why not go all-in on the Chess connection?
Europa will be the new destination forDestiny 2: Dark Omens, replacing thedestroyed Titan. There are no details about the landscape of Europa but hopefully Bungie does enough to differentiate it from the Earth’s moon.
Players will also visit one of the pyramid ships, which is called The Calamity. Apparently, this destination will start out as a location for story missions and will eventually unlock as a patrol zone after the campaign.
New Raid with 3 boss fights
28 New Exotics
The one thing this rumored leak doesn’t say will happen inDestiny 2Year 4 is thatBungie will introduce new darkness subclasses. The leak claims that Bungie will tweak some of the existing subclasses but prior rumors of Guardians learning to wield the darkness are not true.
Again, it’s worth emphasizing that any rumor like this has a greater likelihood of being fake than real.Destinyrumors are a dime-a-dozen before a new content launch, and the fact that they all draw from similar ideas makes it even easier to highlight what can make one fake.
Still, there have been someaccurateDestinyandDestiny 2leaksin the past, so it’s worth considering that this information may be accurate. Once Bungie starts talking about its next expansion – which likely won’t be until later this summer, at the earliest – if some of the details align then it will be worth looking at the leak again.
