Games Done Quickis a charity fundraising organization that collaborates with the Prevent Cancer Foundation through donations and incentives. As its name suggests,GDQ hosts a series of speedrunners, whose operative goal is to complete certain parameters within a game at the greatest speed possible.
Gamers may have heard of GDQ under the names Summer Games Done Quick orAwesome Games Done Quick, which is often referred to in its abbreviated forms. The event is held annually and was hosted in different locations as a live, in-person event before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, while GDQ suffers the same sort of challenges that all other in-person events do this year, Awesome Games Done Quick has made the necessary arrangements to move forward this week.

This year’s AGDQ started today, January 9, as a fully virtual experience toaccommodate for the COVID-19 pandemic. This preventative measure ensures that any interested parties stay as safe as possible while still participating or watching the event, which is live now for anyone to observe and donate toward. AGDQ then provides a venue for speedrunners to show their expertise in front of a live audience and a worldwide crowd of fans who watch remotely online, while donations pour in toward cancer prevention and research.
At the time of this writing, AGDQ 2022 is well underway into its first day of scheduled speedruns. AGDQ 2022’s schedule highlights the localized times that fans can expect to see certain speedruns, so it is not imperative to stay tuned the entire day if fans are busy otherwise. The names of which games will be run and by whom are listed, as well as the time that is expected for the completion of each run. Several hosts break up intermissions and also recap the day’s events near the end of each scheduled day.
