Nothing is confirmed yet, but if Logan takes up the challenge, he’ll work alongsideBatman: The Brave and the Bolddirector Andy Muschietti, who most recently was in charge ofThe Flash,a project that was ambitious if not quite so perfectly executed. No further details on the film will be available until writing starts, and no early casting news is forthcoming due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have continued even after the WGA agreed with studios. However, fans do know Ben Affleck won’t don the cowl for the reinvented DCU’s Batman, as the role is out for recasting, similar to how Henry Cavill was replaced as Superman before the onset of the strikes.
WhileThe Brave and the Boldhas always been used as a title for stellar anthology series in print and animation, the upcoming film of the same name has been specified to be based more heavily on the Grant MorrisonBatmanrun, which shone a spotlight onBatman’s most important supporting charactersas opposed to showcasing a whole host of characters tangentially related to the World’s Greatest Detective. Fans can look forward to seeing Damien Wayne and likely other members of the more intimate Bat-family in the film, bringing a Robin to live action for the first time in a long while. Due to the insanely popular nature of the character, there’s little room for error with the script, and DC Studios is certainly looking in the right direction with Logan.
While the pick for scribe will go uncontested if Logan accepts the role, many are still unsure about Muschietti afterThe Flashfailed to meet expectations a few months ago. There is a general sentiment thatMuschietti directing the Batman reboot is a premature decisionand goes against the idea of a clean slate for the DCU, but fans must wait and see how this all plays out.
