Summary

Which chemistry style to apply to a player is a very important one. Playing without chemistry styles or playing with the wrong ones can give opponents a significant advantage in close games. Chemistry styles boost certain stats on a card by a small but meaningful amount. This can be used to correct weaknesses or exacerbate strengths in existing cards. It should be noted that different cards can get different boosts but the group (e.g. pace, defending) remains the same.

Although players will need to think on their feet and apply the chemistry style that best suits them and their players, some are generally suited to many of the cards onFC 24and will be used far more than others. This topic covers all thebases for attacking, midfield, and defending options. Finally, it should be noted that players should be sure to have their cards on maximum chemistry to get the greatest possible boost to their stats.

Trent Alexander-Arnold In EA Sports FC 24

Updated Jun 18, 2025 by Ben Painter:WithEA Sports FC 25right around the corner, gamers may want to fire up Ultimate Team on EA Sports FC 24. Competition is high in the game mode with players having stacked squads at this point in the year, filled with Icons, Team of The Season Cards, Futties, and much more. A small way to give cards an edge is to use Chemistry Styles.

These items give boosts to players in their specific attributes, but players will need to know which Chemistry Style to use on which specific player to get the best out of them. This update adds three more ofthe best Chemistry Styles to use in EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team.

Robert Lewandowski In EA Sports FC 24

1Gladiator

For Attacking Fullbacks Or CDMs

TheGladiatorChemistry Style offers players the chance to boost a player’s shooting and defensive stats, so it makes sense to apply this item to attacking fullbacks or midfielders who like to get up and down the pitch.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the perfect recipientof the Gladiator. He already has great shooting attributes but lacks a bit at the defensive end of the pitch. This item will ensure that when he shoots it will go and that he can keep things tidy. Gladiator is also perfect for those midfielders who need that help defensively like Enzo Fernandez or Kevin de Bruyne.

Ederson Making A Save In EA Sports FC 24

2Hawk

When Strikers Need That Little Bit More Strength

There are a lot of Chemistry Styles for strikers, but theHawkis very versatile. It is perfect for strikers who aren’t rapid, not that strong, and maybe not the most clinical of finishers. Forwards who fit this mold are Antonie Greizmann and Ollie Watkins, who need that little bit of help inEA Sports FC 24Ultimate Team.

The Hawk is also great for wingers, the ones who aren’t powerful and need that little bit of extra support when trying to shrug away defenders on the attack. Neymar, Mohamed Salah, and Raphinha are perfect examples of cards that need the Hawk Chemistry Style. Wing-backs are another type of player who would benefit from this, if gamers play a 3 or 5 at the back formation, then looking at using the Hawk on those wide players could be a possibility.

Erling Haaland

3Cat

Needed For Sweeper Keepers

Just like in real life, the norm for goalkeepers in Ultimate Team is rushing out of the goal andplaying as a sweeper keeper. TheCatChemistry Style is perfect for suiting this style of modern shot-stopper, like the best ones in the game: Alisson, Ederson, and Jan Oblak.

The Cat could also be used to improve the stats of the keeper who could be better at being a sweeper keeper, the more traditional goalkeepers like Nick Pope, or Gianluigi Donnarumma. A solid goalkeeper is so important inEA FC 24and applying the Cat Chemistry Style will give the man in between the sticks even more of an edge.

FC 24 Kyle Walker

4Sniper

For The Big And Quick Strikers

The Sniper Chemistry Style is perfect for players who enjoy playing a big and strong striker at the top of the pitch. An example of this sort of player is Erling Haaland. With his pace already being high for a man his stature (89), players who prefer a target-man approach may wish to improve his shooting and physicality.

ASniperimproves the respective stats to 97 and 92 from 93 and 88. This will make Haaland even more dominant in the air and holding up the ball than he already was.

Neymar Jr. EA FC 24-1

5Sentinel

Perfect For Speedy Full-Backs

Many of the full-backs that players will come across inFC 24will already be incrediblyquick in-game. Take Kyle Walker as an example. His pace of 90 (which feels faster in-game) is already enough to deal with most attacking threats coming his way.

By applying aSentinelto him, players improve his defending and physicality to enable him to defend in a far better way. Specifically, Sentinel improves both jumping and heading accuracy, making a full-back a far more effective back-post defender.

Federico Valverde in EA FC 24

6Catalyst

Help Out The Tricky Wingers

The boost to pace and passing is an effective partnership for many different positions. It could be used to improve atop midfielder’s paceand passing from high to very high levels but the example here will be wingers. Some of the best dribblers in the game, such as Neymar, have comparatively poor pace and passing stats (86 and 85).

Catalyst will boost these two by a significant amount and, in Neymar’s example, will improve his pace to 94. Alongside his dribbling, he will become a major threat on the left side of the attack.

Harry Kane EA FC 24

7Basic

Sometimes It’s Better To Do Nothing

Basic is the default chemistry style for all cards that players pack and earn. For most cards, the direction in which players should go is fairly clear, but some very well-rounded midfielder players present a conundrum.Basicimproves all stats by around 1-3.

This can be very useful on cards like Valverde where every stat is already above 80.If players planto use a card like this as a box-to-box midfield player, then it is a viable option to do nothing.

Virgil Van Dijk Going For A Header

8Engine

Only Way To Increase Pace & Dribbling

The Engine Chemistry style should be used to give boosts to players that need a simultaneous pace and dribbling boost asEngineis the only style that will allow for that. This is particularly useful for attacking players such as those who already have high-level shooting, like Harry Kane.

Improving his pace, passing, and dribbling by 4, 5, and 4, Kane becomes a much more versatile option for players with the ability to now play just in behind the striker.

Messi EA FC 24

9Shadow

Default Option For Defenders

If players are ever in doubt over what Chemistry style to apply to their defenders, aShadowis more often than not the best possible option. Quick players are a necessity onFC 24and Shadow can be used to amplify existing pace or make up for a lack of it.

An example of the former type of player is Virgil Van Dijk, already one of the best gold cards in the game. With a shadow, his pace goes up to 86 and his defending up to 96.

10Hunter

If In Doubt, Apply A Hunter

Much like the Shadow style and defenders,Hunteris the style most used forattackers in Ultimate Team. This is justified when players consider the boost that a card gets with the style and the fact that scoring is the most important part of the game.

A card like Messi has his shooting and pace upgraded from 80 and 87 to 88 and 93. In this case, the style made up for a lack of pace and shooting, but it can be used just as effectively by a striker with better base stats in those two attributes.
