Summary
For The King 2is a rogue-like strategy game that heavily leans on tabletop elements andturn-based strategy mechanics, and has a ton of fantasy elements sprinkled in as well. The firstFor The Kinggame was a sleeper hit, perfect for fans of rogue-like games focused more around party building and strategy rather than the stats of individual units.
For The King 2might seem like a simple game reliant on ‘roll the dice’ mechanics, but it can be quite challenging, especially for newer players. Thus, building a strong party using the best classes is important. For The King 2can be punishing, especially in the early game when players don’t have access to the best weapons and haven’t quite gotten the hang of the game yet. This is exactly why it’s important to know what the best classes are. The good news is that most classes are great, and the combinations players make are what matter, but some classes clearly outshine the rest.

Updated June 09, 2025, by Musaab AhmedFor the King 2 is a game heavily reliant on how the different classes are balanced by the developers across various patches and updates. Even the most minor stat changes can heavily impact the entire meta and dictate how useful a class is or isn’t. Recently, patch 1.16 has made heavy changes that have impacted nearly every class in the game.
Some of the weaker classes in the game, such as Woodcutter, have received solid buffs, which bring them up to par. Moreover, some already solid classes, such as Hunter, have gotten even better. Overall, the balance changes are substantial enough to warrant a reshuffling of this ranking.

6Alchemist
Exceptional Utility With Standout Use of The Talent Skill
Alchemists were always a solid class, but they suffered from over-saturation in their niche. Herbalists, as one of the best classes in the entire game, and even Scholars could do most of what an Alchemist brings to the table. While they weren’t a bad class, Alchemist didn’t really have a niche to thrive in.
Over the course of recent patches, however, they’ve settled into a unique role. Alchemists have some of the best Talent in the game, allowing them to aptly utilize Talent talent-based items. Moreover, Alchemists are vital for crafting potions and boast overall solid stats that make them a great addition to any team.

5Friar
Friar Is A Unique Class With Tons Of Utility
Friar is one of the most fun-to-use classes in the game. In some ways, they are reminiscent of GragasinLeague of Legends, too. Friars are a unique class in the context of most rogue-like games. This is because they have really high durability stats to go along with their magic damage. Friars can be used as an auxiliary frontline and damage unit. A jack-of-all-trades of sorts, and they usually do whatever role they’re assigned to do pretty well.
What makes this class great, however, is their fun abilities. Friars can use alcoholic drinks without receiving any of the negative de-buffs. They also have a chance to find these alcoholic drinks at the end of each turn, ensuring a constant supply stream. Friars also utilize high-quality equipment really well due to their solid stats across the board. Their only weakness is that they don’t have exceptionally high magic damage, so ideally, they shouldn’t be the only mage on the team, and they have an ability that gives their allies both a buff and de-buff from alcohol.

4Hunter
Hunters Are A Consistent Source Of High Damage
Hunter is the best DPS or high-damage class in the game. They’re available as a starter class, and thus, it is highly recommended that players keep a hunter in their party at most times. Hunters are also one of the few classes inFor The King 2that can, with some luck, solo the entire game on their own.
What makes Hunters good is their high damage coupled with their really strong evasion stats. This means they can dish out consistent damage and players don’t have to be too worried about their survivability either. Pairing them with a high defense class, such as a Blacksmith, can be great for surviving the tougher battles in the early game. Patch 1.16 has also given Hunters some great buffs; their main skill Called Shot has received massive buffs; it applies to a wider variety of ranged weapons and has amplified critical damage.

3Blacksmith
Blacksmiths Pack A Punch And Make A Dependable Frontline
Blacksmith might be the most underrated class in bothFor The King 2and its predecessor. They’re available from the early game and can provide a useful crutch for those earlier levels. Blacksmiths are probably the most durable units in the game, and they don’t really ever fall off, either. They have high strength to complement their durability and can thus utilize larger blunt weapons such as hammers really well.
A Blacksmith with a good shield can do wonders for any team whilst also doing crazy damage and remaining relevant throughout the game. Pairing blacksmith with the likes of Friar, Scholar, and Hunter cancreate a powerful partyadept at any situation, and the Blacksmith acts as the glue holding everything together.

2Herbalist
Herbalists Offer Solid Healing And High Magic Damage
The Herbalist might not seem like the best class around; it isn’t exactly the archetypal healer, and on the face of it, Scholars are the best magical class due to their AoE damage, but this isn’t exactly the case. Herbalists are the best support class in the game for a multitude of reasons.
They have decent health, which means they aren’t too squishy and can take a hit. Their stats might be a little deceiving as, due to their high intelligence, they can actually dish out some pretty high magic damage, and of course, they are the designated healers. Not only can they find herbs for units to use, they have theparty healing skill, which allows them to heal the entire team, and then take another action on top of it. This makes them a very versatile and powerful class. In conjunction with Party Heal, Herbalists can provide parties with a variety of herbs through their Find Herb skill. If used well, a Herbalist can be a supportive beast, dishing out damage and providing ample healing.

1Farmer
Farmers Are Tanks With Unique Abilities Players Can Optimize
The farmer might be the best class in the game, depending on how they are used. Farmers have really high durability and can act as front-line units with ease. Coupled with this, they can spawn random scarecrows in the front row. This can allow players to use them in a solo or two-man front line and provide incredible protection for the rest of the team. They work particularly well with Herbalists, Alchemists, and Hunters. Recent updates have buffed some of their key stats up, making them an incredible unit outside of their Scarecrow utility as well.
Scarecrows can tank a couple of hits irrespective of the opponent and essentially act as a wall for a player’s back-line units. The scarecrow alone makes a farmer a top-tier class, but the fact that farmers themselves have solid stats, can use some ofthe better weaponsin the game, and do good damage bumps them up to the top of the best classes in the game.
