Stardew Valleyhas afantastic library of mods, ranging from cosmetic to quality-of-life changes, to entirely new characters and even regions. Of course, the gameplay has also seen a lot of love and attention from the modding community. Players are always looking to improve the quality of life, add new functionalities, and overall enhance the gaming experience.
Over the years, certain mods have risen above the rest, becoming almost necessary for some players, with some even evolving to become cornerstones for other mods. A game canalwaysbe made better, and clearly even Concerned Ape himself agrees, as evidenced by the upcoming patch that will add an entire list of content to the game.
1Happy Birthday

Frankly, this should be a default feature for the game, given how many gifts the players annually dish out to everyone in the valley. In any case, this mod allows players to choose their preferred birthdate, except for any in-game holidays and events.
The characters will congratulate players on their birthday, and should they miss a conversation with the player on that day, will send a gift to them on the next one. The gifts go up in qualitydepending on the relationship with the player, so befriending as many characters as possible becomes even more important than usual.
2Wear More Rings

Rings are an important part of the game’s combat system, allowing players to accessorize, and match their playstyle. Once players progress far enough, the game allows players to combine two rings into one, combining their power without taking up an extra slot.
However, certain rings are more useful outside of combat, and switching between loadouts can take precious backpack space, and that’s where this mod comes in. Players can now wear 6 extra rings by default, and up to 20 if they want to configure the mod file. With so many extra rings, players don’t have to worry about picking and choosing their favorites anymore.
3Friends Forever

In the vanilla version, friendship slowly but steadily declines between the player and the villagers, every day that they do not interact. Given how much the farmer has to do, constantly keeping up with everyone, especially in a modded game, can quickly become overwhelming.
With this mod, players can safely engage with whatever project they’re working on for as long as they need, without worrying that their best friends will start to forget them. Interestingly enough, the only vanilla character to not lose friendship points isthe farmer’s marriage partner.
4Winter Grass

This mod helps with thatawfulfeeling of the first day of winter, and realizing that someone didn’t prepare enough grass for the animals. And besides, the winter grass just looks great, with custom textures and a shiny snowy look.
To be clear, by default mod settings the grass doesn’tgrowto help with the balance, but rather just allows players to harvest the existing grass to help with the beginning of winter. Still, having an extra week of not having to deal with Marnie’s hectic schedule is an amazing bonus.
5Skull Cavern Elevator

The Skull Cavern is one of the most difficult combat challenges in the game and can be a hard obstacle for players who prefer a more leisurely playstyle.Getting to level 100 can be especially excruciating, given how dangerous the enemies in the deeper levels are.
This mod adds an elevator, similar to the Mines, that allows players to “save” their progress in increments of 5. This way, players can slowly but surely work their way towards the bottom level, and go straight to the iridium-rich levels when they need the materials. No more will players need to chug down tons of coffee and Spiced Eels!
6Automate

Automate is an absolute game-changer for those who enjoy optimizing their farming and bases in general. Basically, players can place chests next to machines, and the machines will automatically process whatever is in the chest, and place back the end result.
It gets even better. Players can put any number of machines next to each other and have just a single chest to manage all of them. 50+ wine barrels, with a chest full of fruit, will gradually produce wine all by itself, without any input from the players. Players can get creative with how they wish to utilize the system, but the potential is truly limitless.
7Tractor Mod

Working on crops is a fundamental part of the game, but after the 10,000th time, it can get at leasta littletedious. With the Tractor, players can clear debris, plow the earth, plant seeds, harvest crops and so much more.
Besides doing everything one might imagine a tractor to be capable of, the mod has even more functions, such as milking cows or shearing sheep. In-game, the tractor might cost a lot to build by Robin, but it is absolutely worth it, given how muchtime and energy it saves the player.
8Farm Type Manager

The mod itself can be incredibly useful to those who enjoy completely customizing their beloved farm. Players can now use logs, ores and so much more to give their unique twist to their farm, and truly have something that no one else does.
But the reason this mod is so legendary is the sheer number of mods that have been created with it at the core. At the moment of this article, more than190mods depend on it, and it is an incredibly noteworthy achievement in and of itself.
