Summary
Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasyis an isekai anime that follows the story of Makoto Misimi as he finds himself in a fantasy world, all thanks to a contract his parents got with a strange goddess. According to the contract, Makoto is to be the hero of Elysion, and on getting there to play his role, the goddess sends him away to the desolate part of the world for being too ugly. Sent to this barren land, Makoto embarks on a journey to build a village for the non-humans that reside there.

This young boy finds himself in an isekai world, expecting to be a hero, but his looks put off the goddess, and she sends him far away from human civilization. This isekai anime blends humor, adventure, and world-building as Makoto builds a community in the wilderness filled with non-human creatures.
The fun for anime lovers, particularly isekai lovers, never ends, as there is always a series or similar series for everyone. It might be safe to assume that Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy resonated well with some anime lovers, and there are similar shows for those looking to experience more humor, adventure, the relationship between non-human and human characters, and more importantly, characters whisked to a fantastical realm.
After being confined to a sick bed and fighting with an illness for so long, Hiraku finally passes away, and luckily, a god takes pity on him and gives him the chance to reincarnate in another world. Hiraku uses this second chance to pursue his dreams of being a farmer, and because of this, he finds himself in a forest, where he can plant away without interruption from anyone. With his farming knowledge and new power, he soon transforms this forest into a fertile land that starts attracting people.
Makoto wanted to be a hero, but things changed, and he found himself in an isolated land, away from human civilization, just like Hiraku. Hiraku was glad to be put on the isolated land, while Makoto was angry and hurt. However, Makoto made some non-human friends, and together, they turned the isolated land into a home for non-human creatures, turning it into a community.
When choosing an in-game character, one has criteria for doing so. It could be for the stats of the character or just how cool the character looks to the player. A Japanese man chooses a skeleton, Arc, as the in-game character for his online game, as he was not expecting to find himself trapped in his character. After a nap gone wrong,he finds himself as Arcand has to hide his face from everyone in his new world, where he has to go on quests and make a living for himself.
Makoto does not look like a skeleton, but he was sent away because of his looks. To the goddess of the world, it is safe to assume he looked like a monster to her. Hiding from humans and living amid non-humans, Makoto, just like Arc, has to navigate through his new environment.
Usato wants to live a remarkable and interesting life, and all things seem to work out for him as he and his friends, Kazuki and Suzune, are transported to a magical world. However, he is not blessed with remarkable powers like them, or so he thought, as he only has healing powers, and because of that, he is not considered a hero. However, he does not let this unfortunate news faze him, as he is recruited by Rose, and under her, he discovers that his healing magic is not as simple or average as he initially thought.
Just like Usato, Makoto comes into a new world hoping to become a hero or something worthy, but unfortunately, he cannot be either because the goddess of this world is immediately put off by his looks and sends him away from her sight and that of other human beings. Far away from civilization and hurt by the news of his appearance, Makoto soon discovers that he has overpowered abilities, and he useshis newly found powersto advance.
Hajime suffered betrayal in his normal world, and he probably expected a different life without betrayal after getting transported to an isekai world. Unfortunately, he was with his constant source of betrayal, his classmates. They end up betraying him by pushing him down a labyrinth, and this act starts his journey, going from the weakest to the strongest.
While Hajime was betrayed by his classmates, Makoto was betrayed by the goddess of the isekai world for being too ugly, and she sent him to the deepest and most discarded part of the world to stay far away from humans. These two characters discovered their strength during this period and began to acquire followers.
Because of his looks, Makoto is sent away to the ends of Elyrion, a place called the Wasteland, far from humans and filled with creatures like orcs, dwarfs, and many more. InThe Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made,Seiichi’s classmates constantly pick on and avoid him because of his looks.
A god summons Seiichi’s classmates to a fantasy world to act as heroes and defeat the Demon Lord. However, the god makes a mistake by not summoning Seiichi along with his mates because he is hiding. He soon corrects his mistake, but instead of being with his mates, Seiichi finds himself in a barren land far from humans, just like Makoto. In addition, Seiichi transforms after eating the fruit of evolution, and he becomes powerful and good-looking.
With so much in common, what stands out the most is the main characters trying to survive and adapt to their new world with non-human characters. The main character ofSo I’m a Spider, So What?was formerly a high school student, but an unfortunate accident in school killed her and her classmates. However, they have the chance to reincarnate, and she, unfortunately, is reborn as a spider.
Kumoko, as a spider, lives with other non-human characters and must fight her way into this new world. On the other hand, Makoto,after being sent away to the Wasteland,has to survive and live with the non-human characters that reside there.
When it comes to Isekai anime, fans should be sure to expect an overpowered protagonist.Tsukimichi: Moonlit FantasyandWelcome to Demon School! Iruma-kunhave overpowered protagonistswho are quite similar to one another. Iruma finds himself in another realm that is extremely different from his previous world (the human world), and he has to fit in while keeping his identity as a human a secret.In this new world, he is the only human.
On the other hand, Makoto leaves his siblings and parents to become a hero in a fantasy world. The goddess cannot bring herself to overlook Makoto’s ‘hideous’ face, and she sends him to the Wasteland, where he is the only human.
InOverlord,a Japanese gamer decides to stay in his favorite game till the server logs him out, but things do not go as planned as he gets stuck in a world similar to that game. This Japanese gamer takes the form of Momonga, and he tries to settle into his new world andbuild a community with other characters in the game.
Although the nature of the anime is different fromTsukimich: Moonlit Fantasy,asOverlordis quite dark, the two protagonists have to build a community in their new environment. In addition,they are both overpowered, which is a staple in most Isekai anime.
The Rising of the Shield Herois about four guysfrom different locationssummoned to the fantasy world of Melromarc to make up the four cardinal heroes and protect the world of Melromarc from evil forces. Naofumi gets up and decides to accept his reality as the Shield Hero while living for himself in the face of different forms of adversity.
Makoto inTsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasywas also called to be a hero, but unfortunately, he was not deemed fit for the role because of his looks and got sent off to the Wasteland, a place far from humans. Despite not becoming a hero in Elyrion, Makoto still receives special abilities that make him overpowered, like Naofumi.The Rising of the Shield Herois, however, more serious thanTsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasy,which is more laid-back.
These two anime have obvious similarities, like their isekai genre, fantasy world settling, challenges settling in, and battles in their new world. Although they have different story plots, they have similar comedic elements that some fans love to see.
Just likeTsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy,this anime is laid-back as it follows the story of Kazuma Satou, who hadquite a funny and pathetic death. He meets a goddess (just like Makoto did) but for different reasons. The goddess allows Kazuma to choose between reincarnating or moving into the afterlife, and he goes with reincarnating.KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!revolves around him trying to settle into this fantasy world, completely different from his previous world.
