In the not so distant past, Gearbox confirmed several issues that it was working to address inBorderlands 3in the relatively near future. One such issue isBorderlands 3’s limited storage space, which is so small that dedicated players have had to throw away Legendaries instead of being able to store them for later. The current storage size inBorderlands 3is 50, versus around 170Borderlands 3Legendaries. With the release of the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite update, that number will be changing dramatically.
Confirmed during Wednesday’s Borderlands Show livestream Gearbox is planning togrow players' storage from the limited 50 slotsall the way up to 300 total storage slots. That 6 times the previous size ofBorderlands 3’s storage and should be more than enough room to store all of the game’s Legendary gear, even potentially through all of the game’s events and expansions. If there are around 170 Legendaries in the game right now, then that leaves 130 slots for upcoming expansions and events.

The storage expansion update is planned for release alongsideBorderlands 3’s upcomingTakedown at Maliwan’s Blacksitecontent release. The Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite update is scheduled to launch tomorrow, November 21, and will be available for free to all currentBorderlands 3players. After updating tomorrow,Borderlands 3players should have access to the new storage immediately. Though players will have to do a bit of work in-game to unlock them.
Rather than just open all of the new expansion slots up toBorderlands 3playerswithout them having to lift a finger, Gearbox will make players earn them. Like in previousBorderlandsgames, storage expansions will be bought with in-game currency. Players will by each expansion and then the slots will unlock permanently. It’s nothing too challenging, but should provide a reason for touring the universe again and spending some of that cash.
The Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite update arrives tomorrow, adding with it a new endgame raid scaled for 4 level 50 players. It may be the most challenging content added to the game yet. Alongside the new content will come the bank update,Mayhem 4, and a complete rework of how endgame loot drops. Rather than all loot potentially dropping at all times, Gearbox has shifted toward loot pools. Each boss will now have a specific loot pool, so thatBorderlands 3players can better target and earn the equipment they really want.
