Thus far, the remastered maps inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warhave been largely focused onCall of Duty: Black Ops 2locations. However, a detail in the new Duga map could be hinting at a location from the originalBlack Opsgame being added toCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Duga may be joining the Fireteam and Multi-Team game modes later in Season 3, but the location is currentlyavailable as an Outbreak region. As a result, players have been able to fully explore the area’s massive satellite array and surrounding buildings. However, it did not take long for Redditors like REYNOLDS_1997 to realize that the buildings have the exact same layouts as a classic map. Specifically, one of the areas is modeled entirely aroundCall of Duty: Black Ops' “Grid” map.

While someCall of Duty: Black Opsmaps have received several remakes, including Summit, Firing Range, andthe consistently popular Nuketown, Grid has never seen a remaster. However, its appearance in Duga could signify that such a remaster is in the works. REYNOLDS_1997 includes a batch of comparison photos within their post detailing the discovery, and it becomes apparent that the setup is the exact same. While some building exteriors and interiors boast new colors and patterns, the overall design is the same.
As pointed out by REYNOLDS_1997, this could be because of Grid’s Chernobyl inspirations. Duga may have simply been modeled after that same real-world location, as the original Grid also boasted the massive satellite array outside of its play space. At the same time,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfanslike TylerPak11 are hopeful that a Grid remaster will be coming at some point. While TylerPak11’s suggestion of it being added in Season 3 Reloaded seems unlikely, REYNOLDS_1977 does believe it could come eventually.
Pointing out that the entire map is essentially finished, and that Treyarch would only have to “put some walls around it,” there does seem to be a serious possibility that the map does become repurposed as a 6v6 location. With the layout even being the same when looking out a window, the entirety of the map is seen inside Duga, making the prediction a fair one. While players will need to wait untilfutureCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSeasonsto see if Grid appears, a remaster certainly seems likelier than it did in the past.
At the very least, though, this is a fun nod to a popular map from a classicCall of Dutygame. With more Multi-Team maps sure to come in future Seasons, it will be interesting to see if any other 6v6 areas are included within them.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
