Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warhas kicked off its first season of content, with Zombies fans seeing the addition of some limited time modes and new features. One feature added to Zombies with the latestCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warupdate is split-screen, something that players have been asking for since launch.

While most of the attention is being placed onother Season 1 Zombies additionslike daily challenges, Battle Pass weapons, and limited time modes, split-screen’s arrival is huge for players who love couch co-op. Like with theHaloseries, the feature was incredibly important to the rise in popularity for Zombies, as players have survived against the hordes of the undead with a friend and family member for years. For whatever reason, though, split-screen was not available inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waruntil now.

While the addition comes a month after the game’s release, it is better late than never, as the mode has seen an appearance in every previous iteration ofCall of DutyZombies. Functioning exactly as one would expect it to, split-screen gameplay places one player’s perspective on the top of the screen and another player’s POV on the bottom. With no major hiccups seen thus far regardingthe new Zombies feature, fans should be happy to finally see it arrive in-game.

Like other appearances of split-screen in Zombies, the feature works in online play as well. A duo of users on the same console should have no problem connecting to an online game with two other players, another major advantage of split-screen play in the mode. While the feature is limited to 2 players only and comes with no 3 or 4-player support, the arrival of split-screen is still a positive addition made withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first seasonof content.

The arrival of split-screen comes at a perfect time, as those making use of the feature can jump right intothe new Jingle Hells playlist. Seeing all the festive changes to the map as well as gameplay tweaks like the Naughty or Nice loot system would normally be a blast, but doing so with a friend or family member should make the experience even more memorable. With a Cranked playlist coming later in the season as well, Zombies fans should have plenty to do over the next several weeks.

For any split-screenersexpecting a new Zombies map, the wait for that kind of content will be a bit longer. With a second Zombies location confirmed to not be coming until Season 2, players will be getting even more familiar with Die Maschine during Season 1.
