WithCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s near-constant updates, bugs and broken features aren’t uncommon. That’s just the nature of game development, that there are unforeseen consequences to some changes.Modern Warfare’s devs at Infinity Ward are often quick to fix issues as they’re able, but bugs can be stubborn, and sometimes things just seem to fall under the radar. That seems to be the case with a new bug that’s brokenModern Warfare’s Play of the Game Killcam for some players.
Reddit user Shaggy 3p5 describes in a Reddit post that “every single game” they’ve played over the past several days has had a buggedPlay of the Game Killcam. They describe how the Killcam footage will begin like normal and will play for several seconds before the camera freezes up. The action will continue like intended, but the camera won’t follow it. The player went to Reddit to see if any other players were experiencing the problem and hoping for a solution.

The thread did have several otherModern Warfareplayersconfirm that they were experiencing a similar problem. In fact, several of them said that they’ve been experiencing the same problem not just for days, but for weeks or even months. It’s clear that there’s something going on here, but the staggered way that players end up “catching” the bug is odd.
While most of the commenters on the thread are focused on the bug, others are simply taking the opportunity to express their unhappiness with the Play of the Game Killcam when it’s working normally. One player says, “I got a PotG in which I did a 180 and shot at a truck.” Others echo how bad the Play of the Game can be when it’s working correctly.Modern Warfarecriticismisn’t a rare sight to see on Reddit, of course.
Perhaps Infinity Ward is already aware of the issue, but is unhappy withModern Warfare’s Play of the Game system as it is. In other words, putting work into it would be a bit of a wasted effort, because the entire feature needs to be redone. WithModern Warfareaging out, though, and anewCall of Dutygameon the horizon, players may end up having to wait until Infinity Ward’s next game for the feature to be fixed.
To be clear,Infinity Wardhasn’t said anything about bugs in the Play of the Game Killcam. And while the bug does seem to be experienced by a reasonable amount of people, it definitely doesn’t appear to be widespread. Unfortunately, for now,Modern Warfareplayers should just be aware that it exists and that there is no apparent solution.
