Cyberpunk 2077launched with a plethora of game-breaking issueslast December. CD Projekt announced the acquisition news via its official website earlier today. Digital Scapes, as it seems, is the foundation of CD Projekt Red’s fourth development team labeled as CD Projekt Red Vancouver. According to the PR, the studio will join the company’s other development teams, based in Warsaw, Krakow and Wrocław, to “jointly work on theStudio’s upcoming projects.”
The press release also mentions how Digital Scapes is CD Projekt Red’s “trusted partner,” and that both companies have been working for the last three years onCyberpunk 2077. Although there’s no confirmation on what the Vancouver team is currently working on, Digital Scapes' official website seems to indicate that it’s working on themultiplayer mode forCyberpunk 2077.
Although CD Projekt Red has shippedThe Witcher 3andCyberpunk 2077, two massive open-world AAA titles in the past few years, it is still a relatively small company. Its home office in Warsaw has over 550 employees, whereas its Krakow and Wroclaw office has 70 and 18 employees, respectively. Having a fourth development studio could ease up the development process a bit and presumably, reduce the achingly long time between its releases.
As of now, CD Projekt Red has its hands full with planning and releasingpost-launch content forCyberpunk 2077. Although a commercial success,Cyberpunk 2077hasn’t fared well with its fans due to massive performance and optimization issues. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red just released a 40 GB patch 1.2 that seems to have fixed some of the visuals, gameplay, quests, and performance issues.
While the latest patch seems like a step in the right direction, it also adds some unwanted issues. The update has been the most problematic forCyberpunk 2077’sPC players, withmany users reporting massive dips in performance. CD Projekt Red has yet to address this new issue, however, given how the company’s dedicated to fixing the game, this will likely be handled sooner or later.
