In less than a month, the much-awaitedResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Cityarrives in theaters. Fans of the game franchise are looking forward to this adaptation, as it promises to be the closest one yet to the origin story. Sony Pictures has now released two new featurettes to introduce fans to the live-action versions of Claire and Chris Redfield.

Portrayed by Kaya Scodelario and Robbie Amell respectively, the characters are from the first and secondResident Evilgames, which are to date among some of themost popular installments in theResident Evilfranchise. Director Johannes Roberts and the two actors take viewers through the journey that the sibling-duo will go on inResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and some of the struggles they face in the process.

Claire’s featurette was posted first by Sony on their social media channels, which reveals how the character had left Raccoon City because “she felt something was very wrong there.” She returns only to tell her brother, Chris, something very important about the city andthe Umbrella Corporation. Of course, viewers will have to watch the film for the rest of the plot, but fans of the games will already know that a horde of monsters is waiting at the horizon.

Scodelario reveals that her character is “well-rounded” and isn’t just the kind to go into a scenario with guns blazing. That sounds similar to her game counterpart, withClaire Redfield always being the one looking for solutionsto a problem. In Scodelario’s words, she is “rebellious and badass.”

The second featurette focuses on Chris and reveals more details about the virus that is infecting citizens of Raccoon City. As a part of the Raccoon Police Department, he is known as a “small-town hero.” But, the Umbrella Corporation crisis forces him to up his game and save the whole city. The featurette reveals new clips from the film and offers a look at some of the other monsters that will be making an appearance.

Amell talks about how the film is a close adaptation of the games. “It’s like I’m living in the video game and it’s really, really exciting,” he is heard saying. When the firsttrailer forResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Citywas released, fans of the game franchise were pleased to see the similarities between the scenes in the film and theResident Evilgames. It remains to be seen how true an adaptation it turns out to be.
