Seeming like they couldn’t be topped, it appears that the boxing fights in the upcomingCreed 3will be some of the best, if not the best, in the entireRockyfranchise. At least, that’s according to Jacob “Stitch” Duran.

MGM’sCreedfilms, which are spin-off/sequel films to theRockyfranchise, have been worthy continuations with Jordan in the lead role as Adonis, the son of Apollo Creed. During an interview withFred Talks Fighting, Duran suggestedCreed 3will surpass the previous films in an important manner and offer a fresh story.

Duran, who served as a cutman – a person responsible for preventing and treating physical damage to a fighter during the breaks between rounds – onRocky Balboaand bothCreedfilms, hinted at the brilliant fights scenes that will take place inCreed 3, while also revealing the unique story Jordan has cooked up. “We finished filming a month ago, it’s going to be very exciting," Duran said.“Michael B. Jordan did a great job, the plot of the film is completely different, it’s not like Rocky, it’s a completely different story, with great fights, probably the best-coordinated fights I’ve ever seen.”

From Ryan Coogler’s one-take boxing sequence inthe firstCreedfilmthat puts the audience in Adonis' shoes to the POV shots director Steven Caple Jr. utilized in the sequel, it’s hard to imagine what more the crew could’ve brought to the table in terms of the boxing scenes. But going off of Duran’s comments and realizing the experience Jordan has gained from playing this particular character and filming these intense fight scenes, it appears audiences may just be in for something truly special and unexpected. Jordan makes his directorial debut withCreed 3, and it appears he’s more than holding his own in the role.

While further plot details remain a secret, new addition Jonathan Majors, who will play Jordan’s adversary in the film, Anderson Dame, has shared thattheCreed 3story is much different. According to Majors, the story is more intimate and therefore complex.

The boxingdrama will see Tessa Thompsonand Phylicia Rashad reprise their roles as Bianca Taylor and Mary Anne Creed, respectively, as well as Florian Munteanu and Wood Harris as Viktor Drago and Tony “Little Duke” Evers, respectively. Coogler and his brother Keenan are working on the story and screenplay.

Creed 3is now set to release in theatres on July 12, 2025.
