With in-person events canceled this year, including big game conventions like E3 and PAX, studios are finding new methods to bring news to fans. Online presentations such as the Sony Future of Gaming PS5 reveal, Nintendo Direct, orUbisoft Forwardare the latest in a trend of virtual conventions.DC FanDomeis next on the calendar on August 22 and is set to bring the biggest news in all DC movies, TV shows, comics, and video games.

In place of making announcements at Comic-Con,DC has opted to create its own virtual conventionthat will provide a platform for updates on all things under the DC umbrella. Announcements from Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Montreal are expected at the online event, but an official schedule hasn’t been released, so there are potentially more announcements in the world of gaming that could be announced.

Rocksteady recently confirmed that its next project was thelong suspectedSuicide Squadgame. Rocksteady already has experience with many members of the Suicide Squad who have appeared in theBatman Arkhamgames over the years, so it’s a natural progression for the studio to be taking on the iconic team. Rocksteady has allegedly been working on the game for five years, but a release date is still expected to be a while away.Suicide Squadis the one game that players can definitely expect news from at DC FanDome.

Batman Arkham 2020

With Rocksteady occupied bySuicide Squad, it’s long been teased that WB Montreal’s next project is continuing theBatman Arkhamfranchise. The studio worked onArkham Origins, making it the natural choice to take the reins on the next game. It’s highly speculated that news about thenextBatmangame will be revealed at DC FanDome. What the newBatmanstory will be about is another question, with many theories pointing to the Court of Owls storyline. WB Games also trademarked a web domain titledGotham City Knightswhich might indicate that the game will focus on a playable Bat Family.

Rumors that a thirdInjusticegame could make an appearance at DC FanDome have been circulating for a while now. WhileHarry Potterisn’t a DC property, the Warner Bros. games division is said to be developing a new video game based on the studios' other hit IP. The rumored andhighly anticipatedHarry Potter RPGcould get its announcement at DC FanDome which would put life back into the video game arm of the franchise, although this ishighly unlikely. There are limitless possibilities for how aHarry Potter RPGcould play out, but placing players into the shoes of a Hogwarts student is enough to get most fans excited.

ASupermangame has been nothing more than fleeting rumors at this point as nothing seems to make it off the ground. It is possible that the earlier rumors ofRocksteady’sSupermangamewere in relation to whatever appearance Superman will make inSuicide Squad,but the hero is free for development and announcing aSupermangame could be the surprise announcement that makes DC FanDome memorable for years to come.
