Dead by Daylightmay be incredibly tense at times due to its high-octane cat-and-mouse gameplay. Yet, it has only truly earned its place in the horror genre due to the original killer character designs that Behaviour Interactive has come up with, as well as the inspired crossovers it has featured with licensed characters as DLC.Dead by Daylightis now known as a hub for horror collections from a diverse catalog of IPs, and it is always fun for fans to speculate as towhich horror IP will be introduced intoDead by Daylightnext.

Many leaks have ruined surprises that were intended forDead by Daylight’s sixth-anniversary broadcast, but one surprise remained that fans had not anticipated.Dead by Daylightannounced a dating sim calledHooked on Youthat seems to have a light and relaxing atmosphere on a beach where four original killer characters are on vacation. The killers are illustrated in stylish beachwear that portrays them in a casual and ordinary light for once, and Behaviour’s utmost priority whenHooked on Youreleases this summer should be to add these beachwear outfits as skins inDead by Daylight.

DLC Chapters are relatively cheap inDead by Daylight, especially when frequent sale discounts are considered, and so skin cosmetics are likely whereDead by Daylightmakes most of its money through in-game microtransactions. Survivor and killer cosmetics come either in three separate items for the character’s head, torso, and lower body, or as an inseparable outfit without interchangeable items.

Hooked on You’s character illustrations show the Trapper, Huntress, Wraith, and Spirit in beachwear that far differs from their ordinary attire, and it only makes sense for these outfits to make their way intoDead by Daylight. These outfits could be made available through an in-store collection that players canpurchase with traditional Auric Cells or Iridescent Shards. Rather, they could be offered as an incentive for players who have purchasedHooked on Youwith a special redemption code that they can then use inDead by Daylight. This way, too, ifHooked on Youdoes not receive the reception that it thought it would,Dead by Daylightmay still be able to capitalize on its creative outfits as cosmetic inspiration.

Only four killer characters are featured inHooked on You’s announcement teaser, but if more killers were introduced through post-launch DLCs, they would also be given fun cosmetic skin designs that could then be adapted intoDead by Daylight. It could be interesting to see how killers such as the Hag, Nurse, Hillbilly, or Doctor are represented inHooked on You’s beachwear, and then havethose outfits also debut asDead by Daylightskins. IfDead by Daylightplays onHooked on You, each game can be interconnected in a fun way that also benefits players of both titles.

Of course,Hooked on Youis probably meant to only be an entertaining spin-off with no future content planned. But for whatever amount of timeHooked on Youremains relevant in theDead by Daylightcommunity, it could at least intertwine together withDead by Daylightfor content purposes. Behaviour knows its fanbase well and understands the potential forDead by Daylightto branch into other genres of media that still consist of the fans it already has. Not every fan ofDead by Daylightis going to want to playHooked on You, but itgrantsDead by Daylightthe opportunity to extend its reachwhile also having the potential to take advantage of the unique skins that are illustrated inHooked on You.
