With development onDeath Stranding2well on the way, many fans are hopeful that some iconicDeath Strandingcharacters return forDeath Stranding2. Not much is known about the sequel, as the game follows Kojima’s cryptic methods, but there are characters thatDeath Stranding2needs.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
8Cliff Unger
There’s a tragic story told inDeath Strandingabout Cliff Unger. He was just a man who wanted to take back his son from Bridges, betrayed by the country that he fought for. Cliff Unger may seem like one of the antagonists inDeath Stranding, but he is entirely misunderstood, and beautifully played by Mads Mikkelsen. Cliff was beached in his death and relentlessly sought out his “BB.”
Cliff was the father of the first Bridge Baby, who just sohappens to be Sam Porter Bridges, the very man he has been hunting. Although Cliff’s role as an enemy is over, perhaps there is room for his future by using the past. It would be great to see more of Cliff through flashbacks, and how he helped develop Sam’s baby mind.

7Higgs Monaghan
No one expected Higgs to survive the events ofDeath Stranding, considering he was the ultimate villain of the game. Higgs is as bad as they come, and isn’t afraid to torture people, or destroy entire cities to further his goal. It’s what makes him a vicious antagonist, and somewhat of a charmer thanks to Troy Baker.
Although the trailer forDeath Stranding2features singingfrom Troy Baker, and a potential appearance of his golden mask, it’s unclear ifHiggs is behind the new threatforDeath Stranding2or not. Hopefully, he has some involvement, as Higgs was a fun character.

6Deadman
When it comes toDeath Stranding, sometimes science can be responsible for the tragedy. Deadman got his name from the fact that he is an artificial human. He was created from stem cells and is made entirely of dead organs. Despite the cruelty of his creation, Deadman is a loyal ally, and a great friend to Sam. Even if he gets too close for comfort sometimes.
Due to Deadman’s creation, he has no beach and no place to go when he dies. Considering how fun Deadman was as an ally, it would be a shame to not see him again, especially when he deserves some form of payoff for his creation.

5Amelie
Amelie isn’t exactly the easiest entity to understand inDeath Stranding. In essence, Amelia is the soul, the “Ka” of the sixth extinction entity. Due to her body, the “Ha” being deceased, Amelie is eternally trapped on the Beach and kept youthful. Amelia’s fate to usher in the Last Stranding is pretty dark, yet not something that has happened yet.

Amelia has the power to begin the Last Stranding, and perhaps it’s only a matter of time before it starts. It can’t be easy for Amelia toexist on the Beach, suffering forever in solitude until she decides to end it all.
4Lisa Unger
Lisa Unger is seen inDeath Strandingin a horrific state of experimental procedures. Lisa Unger is on life support, in a permanent coma to keep her from dying, and eventually necrotizing. Lisa is the mother of Sam. A mother he never knew because she was dead before he grew up. However, it would be interesting to see more of Lisa in flashbacks.
PerhapsDeath Stranding2will delve deeper into the maternal, allow Sam to have a connection to his deceased mother, and further explore his origin, while also exploring both Lisa and Cliff Unger’s love story that is yet to be told.

3Lockne
As one of the creators of the Chiral Network, Lockne is an incredibly intelligent person inDeath Stranding. What may seem confusing initially, is how identical she is to Mama. However, this is because they are twins, and connected in more ways than their physical appearance. Lockne and Mama become one, sharing a mind and body.

Considering that Lockne is now one with her sister, and their goals align, it would be great to see the character continue herjourney inDeath Stranding2and to further develop great technology for Sam to use as he ventures in his most dangerous mission yet.
2Die-Hardman
The President of the United Cities of America and the Director of Bridges has quite a burden on their hands.Die-Hardman has a lot of responsibilityand a lot of guilt for his past. He is a character that deserves to continue his path on the force for good, as he tries to connect all of America, and perhaps one day, the entire world. His goals are for the betterment of mankind, and he truly doesn’t want anything evil to come of it.
Die-Hardman is a loyal ally. He wants America reconstructed to glory. Not for its military power, but for the connections that it brought people. Die-Hardman is stoic and loyal and deserves to see his dream of a united America.

1Heartman
One of the more tragic stories inDeath Strandinginvolves Heartman. This Bridges member is greatly intelligent but suffering a great loss. Heartman lost his wife and daughter in a voidout, but due to his heart surgery occurring at the same time, he was present on the Beach to watch his family disappear to a Beach. To this day, Heartman searches Beach after Beach to find his lost family.
Never coming to terms with the loss of his family, Heartman purposely stops his heart every twenty-one minutes for three minutes. He is eternally trapped in his facility to undergo this, day by day to find his family. Heartman deserves eternal rest with his family, something he hopefully achieves inDeath Stranding2.
