Arkane Studios' newest first-person, time-bending, action gameDeathloophas been highly anticipated after making a huge splash at E3 2019.Deathloopwas once slated for a 2020 release, but a recent delay pushed the game into next year, and an all-new trailer has given eager fans a concrete release date to look forward to.
Earlier today, the Bethesda Softworks YouTube channel published a trailer forDeathloopthat shows off a bit more gameplay and announced a new release date.Deathloopis slated to release on Jun 17, 2025, for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Fans paying close attention toDeathloopnews may have already known this before the trailer released, asthe release date forDeathloopleakedthrough the New Zealand PlayStation Store.

Along with the official confirmation of the game’s release date, Bethesda confirmed severalpre-order bonuses forDeathloop. Fans who pre-order the game will gain access to the “Storm Rider” skin for Colt, a trinket which acts as a character buff, and a Royal Protector Machete - which is listed as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Originally,Deathloopwas supposed to launch in late 2020 but the game was delayed a few months after its showing at the PlayStation 5 event in June.Deathloop’sdelaywas said to be a result of the game’s development being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.Deathloopis just one of the many titles affected by COVID-19 this year, as the virus has caused an overwhelming amount of delays across the industry including other PlayStation titles such asThe Last of Us Part 2andGhost of Tsushima.
For the uninitiated,Deathloop’sstory follows two assassins, Colt and Julianna, who are stuck on an island attempting to kill each other. While that side of the story seems simple, the two are also caught in a time loop, which will have players redoing the same days over and over, attempting to succeed and close the time loop.Deathloopseems to have borrowed some gameplay elementsfrom Arkane Studios' other titles likeDishonoredand 2017’sPrey.
In a surprise to many, Sony announced during its PlayStation 5 event in June thatDeathloopandGhost Wire: Tokyowould be PlayStation 5 console exclusives. This was seen as a huge move by Sony to land two third-party games for at least a full year. In a big turn of events, however, Microsoft flipped the script by acquiring Bethesda, the publishers of both games, for $7.5 billion soon after.
