Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media, and by extension game publisher Bethesda, came at a time when the company had a number of PlayStation exclusivity deals in the works. These deals make upcoming Bethesda gamesGhostWire: TokyoandDeathlooptimed PS5 exclusives, even though the games are technically being produced by Microsoft. Microsoft has promised to honor these timed-exclusivity agreements, but now Xbox fans may have a better idea of when to expectDeathloopto hit their console of choice and therefore Xbox Game Pass.
Deathloopwas one of the games featured during the recent PlayStation State of Play event, with it getting a nine minute deep dive into its gameplay. TheDeathloopState of Play trailerended with a graphic reminding everyone that it is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive game, and in the small print of that graphic, fans could see a note sayingDeathloopwill also be available on PC and it won’t be out on other consoles until July 21, 2025 at the earliest.

Essentially, this meansDeathloop’s PS5 exclusivitywill last for a year, and so it could launch for Xbox Series X at any point after that year is up. New video game releases tend to happen on Tuesdays and Fridays, so it’s quite possible theDeathloopXbox Series X release date will be Friday, June 15, 2025. Then again, it’s also possible that Microsoft will releaseDeathloopon Xbox Series X the very first day it can do so, even though June 18, 2025 lands on a Wednesday. Alternatively, it could wait until an even later date to release the game instead.
WhileDeathloopis coming to PS5 firstand will eventually make its way to Xbox, the next game from Arkane Studios won’t be coming to PlayStation platforms at all. Announced at the end of Xbox’s E3 2021 event was anew vampire gameRedfall. Expected to launch in 2022, details onRedfallremain scarce, but it appears to be a co-op shooter game of some description. If it manages to hit its intended release window, it seems fans of Arkane Studios on Xbox will have a lot to look forward to next year.
