This week, theOlympics inspired event Guardian Games arrivedat the Tower insideDestiny 2. This new seasonal event pits all three classes against one another by completing medal challenges in exchange for rewards like resources, loot, and materials. While it unfortunately leans pretty heavily into bounties, something that continues to irk the community, players can earn exotic ghost shells and the new Heir Apparent machine gun by participating.

Bungie has also started to make good on its promise for transparency with players. As it currently stands,Destiny 2has more than a fair share of issues, something which is starting to drive players away from the game. However, this week’s blog post provided insights into these issues and potential solutions the studio is working on to address them going forward.Trials of Osiris and cheaters were discussed this week, though each week will put the spotlight on another aspect of the game that needs a boost.

Destiny 2 Gunslinger Golden Gun Replacement

Where is Xur?

Players will want to head to Nessus this week as Xur has rejoined the crew maintaining Emperor Calus' golden barge.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. The Golden Barge is floating nearby with Xur hanging out towards the back of the ship near the treasure chests.

Class Armor

Keep in mind thatthe Armor 2.0 updatehas caused Xur’s items each week to mirror the rolls players get from pulling these items from their own Collections. As it stands, players should likely hold on to their shards if they already own the following items. Players can use the Fated Engram to pull something a little different if nothing in his inventory is appealing this week, including newer exotic items.

Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

Sanguine Alchemy - Warlock chest armor

For the first time since the Season of the Worthy update, the Sanguine Alchemy is now on sale. This exotic was completelyoverhauled and redesigned at the start of this seasonso for Warlocks who originally avoided it like the plague, it may be time to take another look at it.

Blood Magic is the all new exotic perk which allows the player to pause the countdown timer of any rift they’re in by getting kills with weapons. Essentially, this extends the duration of the rift based on how quickly the player can rack up enemy kills. While not crazy, this exotic item is now a bit more useful than it was in the past. It retains value in PvE activities, though it likely won’t replace anything from the current meta.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Celestial Nighthawk - Hunter helmet

Golden Gun users will definitely want to check out the bird-like helmet, Celestial Nighthawk this week. Its intrinsic perk is Hawkeye Hack which modifies the Golden Gun to fire a single, high damage shot. Enemies killed by the shot explode and the player gets a moderate portion of super energy returned.

For those who care about dealing huge amounts of damage, the Nighthawk remains a top tier exotic. While not great at crowd clearing or taking out multiple players in the crucible, this exotic remains a must have for some of the more difficult activities like Nightfalls and Raids. Hunter players will be doling out massive damage to bosses, which also makes this a great item to take on therecently released Grandmaster Nightfall activities.

Hallowfire Heart - Titan chest armor

Just on sale two weeks ago, the Hallowfire Heart is available once more for Sunbreaker Titan players. Sunfire Furnace, the item’s exotic perk, improves the recharge rate of all solar abilities. Additionally, it greatly improves ability recharge rates while the player’s super meter is fully charged. This distinction is important for Titans who use a powerful ability like melting point, which can give teams an edge in a mode like Gambit.

There remains a debate among those in the community who value the Heart of Inmost Light a bit more than this exotic armor. Ether way, the Hallowfire Heart is a solid choice, especially to go along with thesolar subclass changesthe game received a few months ago.

Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:

Exotic Weapon

Originally scoffed at by the community, the Fighting Lion has since come into its own and now holds a special place in most Guardian’s hearts. Its intrinsic perk is called Delayed Gratification, allowing players to hold the trigger and then release it to detonate the grenade. The grenades can also bounce off surfaces, allowing for some very tricky shots. Its trait is Thin the Herd which makes direct hits do more damage to shields, while rapid kills to grenade damaged enemies refill the magazine. Finally, kills with this weapon always drop primary ammo.

The grenade launcher is even more relevant at this point in time as a recent bug has been patched out by Bungie making the blast radius larger than it was. Regardless, this is a weapon with of the shards this week. The biggest thing this weapon has going for it is that it doesn’t take up a heavy slot like most Grenade launchers. Instead it sits in the energy slot, freeing up players to continue using a machine gun or other heavy grenade launcher as needed. This is also a weapon that likely won’t be for everyone as its delayed detonation requires a bit of skill to fully master. However, for those who can get the hang of it, the gun can be very rewarding and fun to use. It’s also great for certainquests like The Wendigo or the Mountaintop.
