Dreamlight Valley’sA Rift in Timeexpansion introduces a new Royal Tool,the Royal Hourglass. Once obtained, this tool is added to the wheel alongside the player’s regular tools, including the Royal Shovel, Royal Hourglass, and others. Like most of those tools, the Royal Hourglass has an activity associated with it:Timebending. Players use the Royal Hourglass’s Timebending ability to search for hidden treasures.
Because this new ability is tied to collecting resources, a new Timebending companion role has been added inA Rift in Time. This role allows players to teach characters in their village this role in order to obtain bonus items when Timebending, like how previous roles includingFishing, Gardening, and others will result in the player obtaining additional materials when accompanied by a companion with the respective roles.
The Timebending role can be taught to a companion when they reach Level 2 Friendship, or learned through use of a Timebending Training Manual, single-use items which must be crafted using materials collected through Timebending. How to Make Timebending Training Manual
Timebending Training Manualis a new item added in theA Rift in Timeexpansion. Timebending Training Manuals are crafted at the regular Crafting Station, not theTimebending Table, despite requiring Timebending Parts obtained on Eternity Isle. To craft a single Timebending Training Manual, players need the following materials:
The materials required for crafting the Timebending Training Manual are all Timebending Gifts, special crafting items players can discover while Timebending using the Royal Hourglass. These items are rarer than the regular parts, and players will want to optimize their farming for specific Gifts by bringing specific companions along when Timebending.
Each Timebending Gift is associated with a specific Disney universe, and players will have an increased chance to find a specific gift when accompanied by a companion from that same universe, regardless of that companion’s role. Therefore, in order to optimize farming for the items necessary for Timebending Training Manuals, players should bring along any of the following companions:
Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Scrooge
How to Use Timebending Training Manual
TheTimebending Training Manualis a single-use item that allows the player to change their companion role to Timebending. The companion must beFriendship Level 10before they can have their role changed.
To change a companion’s role to Timebending, the player has to give the character a Timebending Training Manual, just like they would gift any other item, including their favorite items of the day. Once the character has received the manual, a screen will appear confirming that the character’s companion role has been changed to Timebending.
Benefits of the Timebending Companion Role
Performing Timebending while accompanied by a character with the Timebending role will result in receiving additional treasure, including extra Timebending Parts, Gifts, andMist. New crafting recipes at the Timebending Table require large amounts of these new materials, so players will want to start training companions in Timebending as soon as possible.
Each companion with the Timebending role will increase the player’s chance to receive extra items when Timebending. Once the player has trained five companions in the Timebending role, they are guaranteed to receive a bonus item 100% of the time when Timebending when accompanied by one of these characters. Additional characters with the role can increase the yield of these bonus rewards.
