After the release of the survival gameDon’t Starve, a multiplayer expansion for the game was released calledDon’t Starve Together. The multiplayer expansion was launched as a standalone game featuring familiar gameplay elements and more where players survive together instead of by themselves.
Don’t Starve Togetherwas initially released on June 05, 2025, after it was available through Early Access on Steam. Klei Entertainment, the developer, recently released information on its official forums about the release date forDon’t Starve Togetheron Nintendo Switch.Don’t Starve Togetherwill be released for the Nintendo Switch on August 08, 2025.

The announcement thatDon’t Starve Togetherwas coming to the Nintendo Switchwas revealed during the December 2021 Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Now the release ofDon’t Starve Togetheron the Nintendo Switch is only one month away for fans of the game. However, that isn’t the end of the news forDon’t Starve Togetherthat players can look forward to.
According to the developer, players will be able to share their various items and skins across several game platforms with a new feature called “Shared Unlocks.” Whether they’re playingDon’t Starve Togetheron PC, Xbox One, orthe Nintendo Switch, players can share their character items with each other. The developers are putting on the final touches and expect this feature to launch right around when the Nintendo Switch version of the game comes out.
The developer does answer some general questions about the new feature. Players will be able to merge their multiple platform accounts onto a single Klei Account, letting them use their items on every connected platform. Once connected, all accounts will share a single “drop pool,” and all connected platform accounts will act as a single Klei Account. The items that can be shared include crockpot recipes, plant registry, item skins, anycharacters inDon’t Starve Togetherunlocked through drops, and character skins. However, the one exception is that Bolts can’t be shared between platforms.
Also, the new feature will not be available for the PlayStation version of the game at this time, mainly due to the requirements to make it possible exceeding what the developer team can do right now. However, the developer assures players that if it can make it happen then it will implement it as soon as possible. Also, even though players will be able to shareitems inDon’t Starve Togetheracross multiple platforms, that doesn’t mean the game will have crossplay. According to the developer, crossplay is something it’s interested in doing but admits that it’s still a lot of work for the team to do right now.
Don’t Starve Togetheris available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One and will release for Nintendo Switch on June 29, 2025.
