Players take on therole of Jonathan Reid inVampyr, a doctor turned vampire torn between his Hippocratic Oath to do no harm and his bloodthirsty nature to feed on humans. How he balances this is up to the player, who is under no obligation to kill innocents in the game. There is a greater mystery at large too, with the game interestingly being set during the Spanish Flu era in London. Overall,Vampyrhas a “fair” rating on OpenCritic, with the top critic average being 72.

Free is free, though, and many who decide to check outVampyrmay come to love it or hate it on their own terms. Still, one of the best aspects offree games via PS Plus, Games with Gold, the Epic Games Store itself (or any other number of gaming subscriptions) is always finding that personal gem that someone wouldn’t have played otherwise.Vampyrcould very well prove to be that gem for other gamers too.

Vampyror just about any other Epic Games Store mystery promo game could be that perfect gift. Thus far, beyond the two aforementioned already, theEpic Games Store has also given awayShenmue 3, Neon Abyss, Remnant: From the Ashes, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Loop Hero, andSecond Extinction. As of this writing, there are still 6 games to be given away via this mystery promo.

What they could be remains to be seen, but all in all, it seems safe to say that no gaming subscription service celebrates the holidays quite like theEpic Games Store and its mystery promotion, which in all likelihood will return next year as well.

Epic Games Storeusers typically get a handful of free games every month.
