Summary

The ongoing debate between Twitch and Kick streamer xQc and h3h3YouTubecontent creator and podcaster Ethan Klein over reaction video content and fair use has taken yet another turn, with Klein deciding to leak DMs between the two on Twitter. xQc and Klein recently held a debate onYouTubeon the subject. The debate ended without much in the way of agreement or respect between xQc and Klein. The leaked DMs further show that the two aren’t fond of each other, to say the least.

xQc and many other streamers have recently become the focus of significant criticism over their reaction content for Twitch, Kick, and YouTube. The criticism focuses on the fact that much of xQc and others' reaction video content doesn’t actually feature their reactions. As such, some have gone so far as sayingxQc and others are stealing contentfor their own benefit. Klein made just such an accusation, calling xQc a “content thief,” after which xQc challenged Klein to a live debate.

With the debate over and little resolved, Klein decided to share xQc and himself’s continuing discussion as it’s ongoing in his Twitter DMs. A thread of leaked DMs started with xQc telling Klein that, “Kicking me out and doing echo chamber tweets about the stuff you didn’t prep for is some soy behavior man.” The insults didn’t stop there. xQc called Eithan an “old guy” and a “boring, grayhair andy,” while Klein joked about xQc not sleeping and “coping” with the criticism. In the end, xQc and Klein would go back and forth until around 2:30 AM Tuesday.

The conversation over Twitter DMs wasn’t just a series of insults, however. It was a conversation about the topic the pair had just had a debate about. xQc continued to argue that Klein was searching for “victims that don’t exist,” and that he doesn’t care about his reaction videos making money outside of paying his editors and team. Klein argued that it does matter to the people whose videos xQc watches since they don’t see revenue from xQc’s usage. WhilexQc may not care about the money, others might.

This isn’t the first time that xQc has been accused of not caring about how the content he creates has a greater impact than he realizes or cares about. There was a time when xQc acknowledged his gambling streams were harmful, but he has since returned to gambling for Kick. On the other side of the argument, Ethan Klein has fought and won in court to protect thefair use of YouTube videos for reaction videos, even though he now decries xQc’s usage.

xQc responded to Klein leaking their DMs by sending even more messages, which were also subsequently leaked. He comments on the cost of Klein’s recent lawsuits over fair use, saying that Klein seems “bitter” about it. He then adds, “When the bills kick in and your [sic] struggling, remind yourself you leaked DMs out of insecurity.” xQc then sent a photo of his watch to Klein, saying, “And don’t forget I got ur whole house on my wrist.” Klein responded with a series of smiling emojis. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Twitch andYouTube content creatorscontinued the controversial debate going forward.
