Warner Bros.‘The Flashwill introduceSupergirlto the DC Extended Universe with Sasha Calle in the iconic role. While photos from the set ofThe Flashhave given fans a hint at what to expect from the fan-favorite hero in the film, new fan art imagines Supergirl in action without the limitations of a real-world Hollywood production.
AfterThe Flashdirector Andy Muschiettiteased Calle’s Supergirl suitin a post on his official Instagram account, behind-the-scenes images from the set later revealed the actress in full costume as the DC hero. Of course, Calle was suspended by wires for the scene being filmed and her Supergirl costume was missing the iconic red cape associated with the character.

While the special effects wizards working onThe Flashwill erase the wires and, presumably, add a digital cape toCalle’s Supergirl suit, the aforementioned set photos have left fans wondering what the hero will look like in action once the film is complete. While it will likely be a while before any official footage or images fromThe Flashare released, the artist known as Datrinti has unveiled a new piece that may satisfy fans until then. The stunning artwork depicts Calle’s Supergirl floating in space while wearing her red and blue costume (cape included) with the Earth and sun in the background. In the caption included with the image, Datrinti expressed their excitement forThe Flashand hoped that more reveals for the film will be unveiled soon.
While the most famous version of Supergirl is Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman who was also rocketed to Earth before Krypton was destroyed, fans suspect Calle’s version may be based on a different incarnation of the character from the comics. While this theory is purely speculative,Calle’s Supergirl hairstyleis similar to that of Cir-El, a character who first appeared in the comics as the alleged daughter of Superman before readers learned that she is actually a human who was genetically altered by Brainiac. Of course, even if Calle is playing the Cir-El version of Supergirl, it doesn’t necessarily meanThe Flashwill incorporate the character’s comic book origins into the film. ConsideringThe Flashwill be partially based on theFlashpointstoryline from the comics, it is possible Calle’s Supergirl is simply a different version of Kara Zor-El from one of the alternate timelines Barry Allen creates while traveling back in time to prevent his mother from being murdered.
Again, theories about Calle’s Supergirl have not been confirmed one way or the other, but one thing fans can be certain of isthe return of Michael Keaton’s Batman. The previously mentioned set photos appeared to show Keaton’s Batman and Calle’sSupergirlin the same location, so it seems likely that both heroes will cross paths inThe Flash.
As for what the future holds for any of the heroes featured inThe Flashafter the Scarlet Speedster’s solo film hits theaters? That remains to be seen, but the DC Extended Universe may look very different if some of the changes Barry Allen makes to the timeline are permanent.
The Flashis scheduled to be released in theaters on July 03, 2025.
