Summary

Final Fantasy 14producer and director Naoki Yoshida recently confirmed several highly-requested features, including visible hats for Hrothgar and Viera, are coming in the future. ThoughFinal Fantasy 14is focusing onDawntrailright now, players can expect inventory space, glamour plates, and more after the expansion launches.

It is a well-known fact that Yoshida, lovingly nicknamed Yoshi-P, is an avidFinal Fantasy 14player who is known to make surprise in-game visits. He recently made one such visit on Chocobo, one of the Japanese servers, where he surprised and delightedFinal Fantasy 14players for the new year.

During this visit, Yoshi-P fielded some questions from the community aboutFinal Fantasy 14development. During this impromptu Q&A,recorded byFinal Fantasy 14fansand translated by players on the officialFF14fan Discord, Yoshida confirmed some exciting features were coming to the game in the future.Final Fantasy 14is currently focused onDawntrailand the graphical update, but players can expect to get more inventory space and glamour plates, as well as new character customization options, after the expansion. However, one of the most exciting things is thatFinal Fantasy 14was working on making head equipment visible for Hrothgar and Viera.

New FF14 Features Confirmed by Yoshi-P

While it may seem like a minor thing, visible headgear for Hrothgar and Viera is actually a big deal.Final Fantasy 14added the male Hrothgar and female Vierato the game back duringShadowbringersin 2019, but most headgear doesn’t show up when worn by these races. This was not rectified with the introduction of male Viera duringEndwalkerin late 2021, meaning these players have been unable to use most helmet glamours for over four years now.

Fans are understandably excited about all of these new features coming to the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Inventory space is always important for online games, andFinal Fantasy 14has always struggled to increase this due to it being built on old code. Yoshida recently confirmedhe wantsFinal Fantasy 14to be around for at least 10 more years, so fans are relieved to see the game working towards adding these much-desired improvements in the near future.

This year is going to be a big one forFinal Fantasy 14. The last Fan Festival starts on January 6, promisingnew information aboutDawntrail, which will be released sometime this summer. Patch 6.55 is also expected to come out before the end of January. These features Yoshida confirmed forFinal Fantasy 14’s future may not all arrive this year, but players are still excited to know they are coming eventually.
