Though the exact method of acquiring these Artifact gear sets is currently unknown, if it follows the precedent set by previous expansions, players will be able to get them without much trouble near the end of theDawntrailstory. Most Artifact gear can also be upgraded to become dyeable, and while this process has sometimes taken effort to unlock, it was trivial inEndwalker. Considering theDawntrailArtifact gear gets touseFinal Fantasy 14’s extra dye slot, unlocking the dyeable version will be all the more important.
This is also the first Artifact armor set designed withFinal Fantasy 14’s new graphics update in mind. The visual overhaul coming inDawntrailrenders player models, environments, and textures like metal and cloth with much higher fidelity, letting these stunning Artifact gear sets literally shine.
Players can get a first glimpse at the Viper Artifact gear, as well as the graphical update, in theFinal Fantasy 14Benchmark. The first iteration of the benchmark received a few complaints, promptingFinal Fantasy 14to work on releasing a second version, expected to be released around May 23. With just over a month until the expansion launches, fans will have plenty of time to experiment with the character creator in the new benchmark to see how much the player models improved.
