Edgar is one of the first party members players can obtain inFinal Fantasy 6. He is the Prince of Figaro and the acting ruler of the kingdom. He may act like a thirsty lady’s man, but he’s quite smart too. The way he outsmartsKefka and the Empire, in the beginning, is priceless. Edgar knows his way around machinery which brings up his special command.

InFinal Fantasy 6, Edgar has a special called Tools. Players can buy most of these items from the shop in Figaro Castle throughout the adventure but some are harder to find. Let’s rank all of Edgar’s Tools to determine which are the best and worst of the bunch.

8Noiseblaster

Noiseblaster can be bought in Figaro Castle like most Tools in the game. It has one of the most basic uses inFinal Fantasy 6which blasts a sound wave to confuse all enemies on screen. It does not hurt them and whether or not they get confused is a toss-up.

There are very few instances where this technique will come in handy and Confuse,in other RPGs, is also a pretty worthless status effect. There are far better Tools to use in Edward’s belt. Players should still buy it in the game though just so they can have the completionist satisfaction.

7Bioblaster

Bioblaster has a better status effect it can inflict on enemies via poisoning. Poison does give enemies some visible damage through time. Again, whether or not enemies can get infected by the poison depends on their resistance like Confuse.

It’s not a bad Tool to buy in the game, but it, like Noiseblaster is so far at the bottom of the list. Poison is generally a great status effect to cast on enemiesin other RPGs, but it’s a rough one to use inFinal Fantasy 6be it from Bioblaster, or magic.

6Flash

Flash does not act like the special HM inthePokemonseries. It does have Edward use a bright flash upon his enemies, likePokemon, but it does do damage to them. It’s a fine non-elemental attack to thrust upon multiple enemies in battle and it can even inflict the Darkness status effect as a bonus.

Its effectiveness will depend on Edgar’s magical stats. Even if they are high, it’s a low-performing attack and Edgar, quite frankly, has more offensive Tools to use even before acquiring Flash.

5Air Anchor

Air Anchor should be the final Tool players gather in the game. It is hiding in a secret room in the Cultists’ Tower, which only appears in the World of Ruin. This is one of the toughest dungeons in the game because it eliminates all other commands except for Magic and Item.

Most enemies cast Reflect too, so it will be a struggle to finish this dungeon. Getting Air Anchor isn’t even that cool. The Tool will target one enemy and if they move, they die instantly. It’s cool for random encounters, but it’s rarely useful ina boss battle.

4Debilitator

Debilitator, on paper, sounds like a lame Tool. It does not do any damage to enemies in the game, but it does inflict them with a curse. It can give any enemy an elemental weakness at random. It even works on most bosses, which should give players an edge in battle once the Esper abilities inFinal Fantasy 6start to get more powerful.

For example, it’s easy to do around 5000-7000 damage on enemies weak to fire via Firaga in the World of Ruin.

3Auto Crossbow

Auto Crossbow should be one of the first Tools players purchase in the game. Edgar fires a round of crossbow bolts at all enemies on screen. From the first area to the last, this thing will still pack a punch. Edgar’s Job isn’t well-defined in the game as far as theFinal Fantasyfranchise is concerned.

This Auto Crossbow technique sort of gives him the impression of a Ranger since his shots rarely miss. Ultimately Edgar is more like an Engineer though since he does use gadgets and not straight-up bows.

2Drill

Drill is something straight out ofa horror game. It’s such a gruesome weapon to imagine Edgar using in the field. This literal drill has such a long blade too that it almost seems cruel to use it on enemies. Hearing the noise and watching Edgar get to work is satisfying in a weird way as well.

This Tool will only attack one enemy, but it remains consistently powerful throughoutFinal Fantasy 6. It’s the perfect weapon to use against bosses if Edgar is in the party.

1Chainsaw

Chainsaw is a slightly more powerful Tool than Drill although it does have some drawbacks. The pure attack power is stronger and will hit most enemies as long as Edgar’s accuracy is up. There is also a 25% chance that Chainsaw will cause instant death.

If this happens, Edgar will put on a hockey mask like he is cosplaying as Jason from theFriday the 13thseries. If an enemy or boss is immune to the Death status effect, then there are chances the Chainsaw won’t even hit normally. Whether one prefers Drill or Chainsaw, these are both great Tools for Edgar. Also, this can be found in Zozo upon first visiting there.
