As the PlayStation 5 release date for Square Enix’sFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradelooms closer, some members of the game’s development team have been very open about answering most-asked questions through exclusive interviews. Recently, Co-Directors Naoki Hamaguchi and Motomu Toriyama talked about the game’supcoming Yuffie Kisaragi DLC, the difference between meeting Yuffie in the original game versus in theFF7 Remake, and why the team decided to outfit the mischievous Wutai ninja in a very conspicuous Moogle hood.
For those who have played the originalFinal Fantasy 7, most would likely recall meeting Yuffie later on in the game or perhaps not at all depending on choices made. Appearing as a completely optional character, just like thevampiric ex-Turk Vincent Valentine, it is possible that fans may have completely bypassed her during their playthrough, and only found out later on that she existed within the world ofFinal Fantasy 7. Now, fans will be able to experience her adventures from early on in the story through theFF7R Episode INTERmission, the story expansion that comes with the game’s next-gen version ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.

In an interview posted on the official Square Enix site, Hamaguchi and Toriyama answered a set of questions that centered around theFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Episode INTERmissionDLC. One of which involved having Yuffie running around Midgar in a white Moogle-hooded cape. For those who are familiar with all of the games in theFF7series, fans would most likely recall this outfit from thePlayStation 2 third-person shooter spin-offDirge of Cerberus. Toriyama simply said that it was a reference to the older game, and it was the outfit Yuffie would wear in her reconnaissance missions. Obviously, the looks and color scheme of the outfit makes her stand out like a sore thumb against the dreary slums of the city.
Toriyama also implied that the outfitclearly reflects Yuffie’s character, which is mostly cutesy and very mischievous. With Yuffie always out to steal materia, the Moogle hood also seems very appropriate given how the creatures are sometimes portrayed as treasure-hungry in someFinal Fantasygames. However, Toriyama also pointed out in the interview that since Yuffie will be the main character of the DLC, players will not have to worry about their materia being stolen by her.
The Moogle hood is not the only thing thatFinal Fantasy 7Remake Episode INTERmissionwill bring back fromDirge of Cerberus. An old foe named Weiss is also making a comeback in the DLC, though it is not clear what role he will be playing in the story expansion. Fans will just to have wait until the game and the DLC is finally released to find out more.
