Music plays a major role in theFortniteexperience. Epic Games has gone to great lengths to fill its battle royale with the sound of music, whether that be from the game’s many dance emotes or the live concertsFortniteplayers can attend with their in-game avatars. It only makes sense then for Epic to escalate its efforts and begin to partner with real-life events, too, which it has now down. On Thursday, Epic announced a partnership with the Coachella Music and Arts Festival to bring Coachella toFortniteplayers in several exciting ways.

To start, Epic Games will be introducing a newIcon Radio stationtoFortnite. Starting now and running through May 16,Fortniteplayers will be able to turn on Icon Radio within Joyride vehicles to listen to a playlist of artists playing at Coachella 2022. Over 30 different artists will be featured as part of the radio station. As for which artists players will be able to hear inFortnite, they’ll have to experience them for themselves. Epic doesn’t list them, perhaps wanting to reserve the surprise for players to discover.

Beyond the Coachella radio station,Fortnitewill also be releasing a number ofskins and cosmeticsrelated to the music festival over the next several weeks. Available starting today are the Wilder and Lyric Outfits, as well as matching accessories. Wilder matches with the Finfin Back Bling, Neon Biter Pickaxe, and Finfin Flair Wrap. Lyric matches with the Swaguaro Back Bling and Festival Shredder Axe. Both skins include Cosmic Equalizer alt styles that are visually reactive to music.

A second wave of Coachella cosmetics will then launch on Thursday, April 21, featuring the Alto and Poet outfits. Alto includes the Sonic Vibes Back Bling with its outfit and matches with the Softest Electropalm Pickaxe. Poet includes the Cosmonautic Helmet Back Bling with its outfit and matches with the Cactical Crusher Pickaxe and Mainstage Wrap. Both Alto and Poet outfits are inherently reactive to music. They’ll be available separately or together via the Dancing at Coachella Bundle, which includes the Enter the Coachellaverseloading screen forFortnite.

Lastly, Epic says that it’ll be celebratingFortnite’s partnershipwith Coachella with a #Fortography" event. Players are asked to take screenshots with their new Coachella skins and to share them with the #Fortography hashtag. Epic will then share a collection of its favorites in a blog post on April 29.

All in all, the partnership betweenFortniteand Coachella is somewhat limited. Cosmetics are nice, but many fans were likely hoping to experience something more material in thebattle royale’s game world. The skins, at the very least, do some fun things in response to music which could be exciting at future musical events. And perhaps Epic will have some more musical surprises before the end of the festivities.
