RecentFortniteleaks indicate that a new popular Marvel character may be playable in the game soon. The appearance of the fan-favorite Sam Wilson, who currently holds the title of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, could be the first chance forFortnitegamers to play as the first black man to become Captain America if the leak is confirmed. The character in question, Sam Wilson, started out his career as Falcon, a minor character inCaptain America#117, back in 1969. With powers such as flying using mechanical wings and talking to birds (which, at least in the comics, were actual birds, not mechanical ones), he started to rise in prominence as the years passed. Finally, in 2014, he became Captain America for the first time in the comics, a move that would be followed in the MCU. Now, Wilson is set to star in theupcomingCaptain America: New World Ordermovie, which will be out in 2024.RELATED:Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Is Ending EarlyAccording to leaker Shiina, there’s strong evidence suggesting that Sam Wilson may be flying inFortnitesoon. First, they claim that data mining has uncovered a new sound game file called “SoundLibrary_Glider_Elevate_Wings.” The same of the document is pretty self-explanatory, as it suggests that a winged character may be added. The other piece of evidence is an unused Captain America set which has been added in the update. Together, both could indicate that a flying character who uses a Captain America set is coming, and there is only one Marvel character that fits the description. Shiina, the source behind the leak, is also a fairly trustworthy leaker. With over a million followers on the social media platform, they have, for example, leaked the first-person mode inFortnitelong before it was a reality.
In the Twitter thread, many excitedFortnitefans rejoiced over the idea of playing as the former Falcon. However, some people were not as confident or overjoyed. One user commented that it wouldn’t make sense to add him right now as it’s not connected to any relevant event, and another hoped for a skin of Hope Van Dyne, the Wasp. Quite a few users wereasking for Kang the Conquerorwhich is set to appear inAnt-Man 3: Quantumania, too.
It’s still too early to tell if the leak will be accurate. Epic Games has not officially announced the new skin at the time of this report. However, Marvel crossovers are not something rare forFortnite. At the moment, the game has launched over 50 skins of Marvel-based characters, including therelease of the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, on the 4th of July last year. So, players will need to wait and see.
