During a match ofApex Legendspub, a four-year-old named Austin manages to clutch a victory for his team when he finds himself as the last man standing. To make matters even more interesting, he is also usingCrypto, one of the least-picked characters inApex Legends.
As many fans know,Apex Legendsis a complicated game. There are several strategies and ways to win, with timing, coordination, accuracy, and more all playing major roles in victory. Evenshield-swapping is vital inApex Legends, and during this final match, Austin manages to do even that.

Based on the clip (reported first by Dexerto), it seems one of Austin’s teammates lagged out of the match early, leaving himself and another player to fend for themselves. It seems they passively survived to be the last two in a match, with his father coaching him through this final encounter (as heard below). Austin can be seen doing many things some players may consider too complex for a four-year-old, but he manages to pull it all off. When it’s him versus the last player on the opposing team, he hides behind a door, manages to pop a shield battery to restore hisApex Legendsshields, and finishes off the opponent with an Alternator.
As seen in the end-of-match review, his Pathfinder teammate disconnected one minute into the match, his Bangalore teammate got 1 kill with 300 damage, and Austin managed to get 3 kills with slightly over 400 damage. This is all very impressive for Austin, and it seems theApex Legendscommunitywas just as impressed. They praised Austin’s shield swapping, joked about getting steamrolled by a four-year-old, and one made aSouth Parkit’s gone joke about a four-year-old stealing his loot. Indeed, Austin’s father is understandably proud but talks about things he’s still trying to teach his son, like controlling his emotions with a loss and not opening the inventory to use an item. All things that come with age, admittedly.
Many believe Austin has quite theApex Legendscareer ahead of him, either in eSports or on a streaming service like Twitch. Of course, it’s perhaps too early to speak to that, but the thing is,Apex Legendsmay still be there when he’s old enough. Several games have proudly boasted 10-year plans or an aim at longevity in the industry, but despite its flaws,Apex Legendsis one BR title that could easily be around for years to come.
