Over the past few years, the popular online anime streaming serviceFunimationhas been expanding its efforts to bring new and exciting things to anime fans all over the world. Every quarter, Funimation announces upcoming shows, new trailers, and more, and this year there was plenty of fresh information for fans.

Funimation conducted their Summer Season Preview through YouTube on June 20th. The half-hour livestream featured everything from show trailers, show announcements, new titles to be added to the site, collectible items, interviews, and more.

The summer season has a lot in store for anime fans. Some big announcements were made for some highly anticipated upcoming animes. A teaser trailer for the sci-fi animeSonny Boywas released along with an exclusive message from the director, Shingo Natsume.Sonny Boywill be streaming on Funimation on August 05, 2025. Fans also got more information regarding theadventure anime and gameScarlet Nexusand an early upload of the first episode. The anime movieDemon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Trainwas announcedto stream on June 22nd.

A teaser for the second quarter (cour) ofMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnationannounced the return of the popular fantasy isekai series. A new isekai series calledHow a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdomby Funimation was announced and viewers even got a special message from the cast. A special edition Toru Hagakure figure was revealed to celebrate100 episodes ofMy Hero Academia.

Additional announcements were made regarding other anime such asShe Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, One Piece, Stranger By the Shore,Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish, Robotech,and much more. Funimation also posted on YouTube all new trailers, teasers, and clips separately. Furthermore, Funimation had multiple Lucky Bags as giveaways. The giveaway bags include X-Box merch, Astro gaming headsets, snacks, and more. Fans have until July 2nd to enter using the link in the description of the YouTube stream and the code supplied in the closing remarks of the video.

COVID-19 put a lot of anime shows and new video games on hold, as wasthe case with theMortal Kombatfilm, but as the pandemic begins to slowly near the end, studios are loosening up more shows and games are able to continue production. Many of the animes discussed in this season’s Summer Preview had been originally postponed or left with no set release date. Funimation is giving fans more releases and special content this summer after such a long time of cancellations and postponements.
