Reddit user HemingwayBells21121 shared their recent misadventure through theLands Between inElden Ring, coming face-to-face with a deadly trap. Entering a sparsely-lit, pitched-ceiling cathedral, HemingwayBells21121 took the time to read one of the helpful player-written messages scrawled on the ground. The message read, “Distracted! Therefore laggardly sort,” with the phantom of its author appearing to point back toward the way they came. Curious, HemingwayBells21121 panned the camera behind them to find a devious sprung trap in the form of a massive boulder careening their way. The clip ends before impact, but the only two possible outcomes are their dodging out of the way in the split-second they had to react or having their character pancaked by the boulder. Either way, the startling scene was a wonderful reminder that death can come at a player from any angle at any time inElden Ring.
Both hilarious and horrifying, HemingwayBells21121’s video encapsulates how a player is rarely, if ever, safe inElden Ring.Players have to stay on their toes to make it in the Lands Between, with heads on a swivel, possessing a keen sense of situational awareness. That, or they can die over and over again until each encounter becomes second nature.
While FromSoftware has already announced its next planned title, resurrecting theArmored Corefranchise, many players still have their sights on the future ofElden Ring. With the December release of the coliseum update, which breathed new life into the PvP community inElden Ring, all signs point to FromSoftware continuing its tradition of releasing sizable expansion packs for its games (Sekironotwithstanding). While nothing has been announced, fans are anxious for even the slightest tease ofElden Ring’s DLC.
