The arrival ofGenshin Impact’s newest update is less than a day away, and MiHoYo’s breakout hit RPG has been providing fans with plenty of reasons to be excited about the game’s upcoming patch. 2.6 will usher in thelong-awaited arrival of The Chasmwith the mysterious region of Liyue plagued by issues with the Abyss Order rumored for several months leading up to its reveal. Alongside a new event bringing fan-favorite characters from Mondstadt, 2.6 will also introduce the RPG’s newest character, Kamisato Ayato.
Kamisato Ayato has been rumored to be coming toGenshin Impactsince the release of Inazuma last July, with everything from the character’s voice actor to details of his gameplay being leaked frequently since December. So, when MiHoYo finally revealed near the start of Version 2.5 that the upcoming version would welcome the head of the Kamisato Clan, fans were understandably excited to finally see the long-rumored character in action. In line with the game’s tradition, a previous trailer introduced Ayato’s personality and backstory, with the most recent trailer showing the Hydro character’s flashy swordsmanship in action.

The trailer released on late Monday night/early Tuesday morning titled “Fathomless Swirls in the Forest” gives fans their first official look at Ayato’s gameplay. The heavily stylized trailer shows Ayato doing battle with a group of Fatui members, demonstrating the character’s quick attack patterns and his Elemental Skill delivering a series of Hydro-charged slashes to his enemies. The second half shows off Ayato’s Elemental Burst, ‘Kamisato Art: Suiyuu’, causing water to rain down and dealing Hydro damage in a large area of effect similar to the functionality ofthe previously released Ganyu’s Burst.
The litany of leaks relating to Ayato’s gameplay has implied the character will function as a strong DPS option for players looking to obtain him during the upcoming patch. Previously leaked gameplay videos have shown Ayatofittingly having strong synergy with Ayaka, with the brother-and-sister pair able to quickly apply Freeze to a large group of enemies. Ayaka will also be seeing her first re-run banner during the upcoming Version 2.6, with hers following the conclusion of Ayato featuring on the first banner of the upcoming version.
While fans ofGenshin Impactexcitedly await the release of Ayato, the Chasm, and more with the impending version update, MiHoYo has already started to clue in its player base on the popular game’s plans for the following version.Genshinofficially unveiled two new characters coming to the game in Version 2.7 with Yelan and Kuki Shinobu, and recent rumors have suggested thatKazuha will finally be receiving his first re-runin the following Version 2.8. With Inazuma’s story presumably winding down as Sumeru is rumored to be coming later this year,Genshinlooks committed to making sure the Japan-inspired region goes out with a bang.
