SinceGotham Knight’s launch in October 2022, WB Games Montreal has been working diligently to address the various issues inside the game and continues to do so in the latest console update. The launch has not been a smooth one between many lackluster reviews andcriticism over theGotham Knight’s general performance, with players focusing on the game running at 30 FPS despite PC requirements and being on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, WB Games Montreal is showing its commitment to the game with ongoing updates and fresh content which don’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.Gotham Knightsis the first, wholly original Batman title from WB Games Montreal following on from the studio’sArkhamseries spinoff,Batman: Arkham Origins. Inspired by theBatman: Gotham Knightscomic series, the game follows Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood in the wake of Batman’s apparent death as they take on the mantle of Gotham City’s primary protectors. The Bat family’s efforts to protect Gotham put them in the sights of some of the city’s most notorious villains, including Penguin and Mr. Freeze, while also investigating the activities of the mysterious Court of Owls as it looks to consolidate its power.RELATED:Video Shows Gotham Knights Running Poorly on Xbox Series XWB Games Montreal shared that the latest console patch was live on the game’s official Twitter account, with the focus being on issues surrounding the recently addedHeroic Assault activity. Among the issues the patch addresses is the activity causing the game to crash, which has been plaguing Heroic Assault since the activity was added. Additional fixes included scaling reward drops in the open world, asset issues in Heroic Assault, and a fix for an issue with the mode’s map.
The latest update marks the ninth update for console, PC, or both, sinceGotham Knightswas released on July 22, 2025, though it is one of the smaller patches, given it is only for console versions of the game. The last update was the biggest to date, bringing with it a large swath of fixes along with the aforementioned Heroic Assault activity andboss-driven Showdown. It would not be surprising to see another PC patch in the near future, given that PC and console updates have either been on the same day or only a few days apart.
Given the ongoing support, players could argue the ongoing support reflects WB Games Montreal’s commitment to the game despiteGotham Knights' mixed reviewsat launch. It can often be the make or break for most live service games, withDestiny 2serving as an example of the success a game can have in the space versus the failure of a game such asAnthem, which was plagued with a rocky development cycle and poorly planned post-launch roadmap. Time will tell whereGotham Knightsfalls in this spectrum, but players shouldn’t be surprised if WB Games Montreal does everything it can to keep the game alive and improve it however the studio can.
