Actor Misha Collins has officially been cast as Harvey Dent in the pilot forThe CWseriesGotham Knights.Collins joins previously announced cast members Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, and Navia Robinson.

The new show is neither a spinoff ofBatwomanor any other DC property, nor is it connected to in any way theupcomingGotham Knightsvideo game.

Per Deadline, Collins’ Harvey Dent is described as “Gotham’s charismatic, hard-charging District Attorney. With a rigid sense of right and wrong, Harvey’s idealism and single-minded quest for justice will ironically and tragically transform him into one of Gotham’s the most feared supervillains, Two-Face.” Collins announced the news on Twitter, saying, “I’ve asked if my version of the character could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit. (I’m just not sure I’ll be comfortable in front of a camera without one).” This is referring to his signature wardrobe onSupernatural.
Collins played the fan-favorite character Castiel on the long-runningCW seriesSupernatural. Described as an Angel of the Lord, The character’s appearance was modeled off of the DC Comics character John Constantine. His other TV credits include24andER.Collins joins a roster of actors who have played the character in live-action, including Billy Dee Williams, who played Dent in Tim Burton’s 1989 filmBatman, Tommy Lee Jones in 1995’sBatman Forever, Aaron Eckhart in director Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed sequelThe Dark Knight, and more recently Nicholas D’Agosto, who played the character on the Fox seriesGotham.
In the comics, Harvey Dent is the upstanding Gotham City District Attorney until he suffers a brutal acid attack that leaves one side of his face permanently scarred. This eventually leads him to transform into the villainknown as Two-Face. Created by Batman creators Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Two-Face is one of Batman’s oldest and most formidable enemies, appearing in dozens of comic storylines.
Based on the character description, it sounds like Collin’sHarvey Dent will still be servingas Gotham’s District Attorney, meaning fans will either see his transformation into Two-Face in the pilot or later in the series. Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams will serve as executive producers along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden. Danny Cannon will executive produce and direct the pilot.
