When it comes to battle, these melee weapons stand out from all the rest.
Updated January 27th, 2022 by Russ Boswell: Players were introduced to one of the better indie RPG releases of the last decade in late 2019 with Greedfall. The old-school RPG features many of the best elements within the genre, giving players tons of great weapons to seek out and use against their many enemies. But what exactly areGreedfall’s best weapons, and where can players get their hands on them? To better answer that question, the following guide has been updated with even more entries concerning thebest melee weapons in Greedfall.

13Fencer’s Stiletto
Those looking for a quick weapon that has high stun capability should consider the Fencer’s Stiletto. This thin blade is capable of dishing out decent damage while offering a high stun (90 percent). The only downside is that it requires a hefty 5 agility points just to equip. Still, those that have pumped most of their points into agility anyway can really benefit from this easy-to-obtain melee weapon.
Unfortunately, players have to wait a bit to get their hands on this sword as its found in the Tall Trees of Cwenvar. This area is blocked off by a massive boulder (for story-based gate-locked reasons). Once there, in the ruins of Cergsaunsei, players can find a stone chest with the speedy melee weapon inside it.

12Large Cleaver
Despite the light armor damage, the large cleaver is a great asset to anyone looking to get up close and personal with the enemy. Keeping things at short range, the large cleaver is light but deals a ton of damage. It won’t take very long to hack through even the most stubborn health bar with this equipped.
Players will find the large cleaver in their inventory once they become friendly with the Congregation of Merchants. It’s an easy item to miss, and most players go through the game without getting their hands on it. This definitely puts an emphasis onwhy it’s important to make friends with the right peoplein Greedfall.

11Hammer Of The Forgotten God
A lot of the weapons featured on this list are speedy blades or hard-hitting swords, but the Hammer of the Forgotten God should be considered as one of the best available melee weapons in the game. This massive hammer comes equipped with some serious stun capability (240 percent to be exact) and can dish out punishing blows thanks to its 226 Physical Damage rating.
Players that want to snag the Hammer of the Forgotten God will need to head to New Serene after starting the Coin Guard Merchandise mission. After completing the mission, the side quest The Man with the Silver Coin will automatically start. Completing this side quest will reward players with the easy-to-obtain Legendary weapon.

10Yataghan
Although some of the best weapons in Greedfall are found during the late game, there are still some that can be had fairly early. The Yataghan is one of the best bladed weapons considering when it can be snagged and it’s pretty easy for players to find. Packed with 298 Physical Damage and 100 percent stun, Yataghan can help players slice their way through enemies quickly and efficiently.
To get Yataghan, players need to progress to Glendgnamvar in The Shore of Tall Bones. Once there, they will be whisked into a quest and during they will come across a large boss that is “guarding” the weapon. Players that don’t have the ability to kill the boss at a lower level can technically sneak past him to get the chest containing Yataghan but it may be difficult and take multiple tries to effectively slip past the enemy.

9Sacrificial Sword
The sacrificial sword almost dismisses the armor damage entirely, making it useful when taking out lower-level enemies or when switched in for the final stages of battle. What it lacks in extra damage it makes up for in its stun and upgrades in physical damage which boosts its attack for a 25% drop of the fury bar.
Another weapon that’s a little more complicated to get, players must first complete the ‘‘Origins Of Theleme’’ quest before adding it to their arsenal. Roaming the east side of Vedvilvie will soon bring players to a cave entrance with a boss enemy standing outside. Win that fight and retrieve the legendary reward.

8Light Flamberge
One of the lighter weapons on the list, the light flamberge is something that players can get early on in the game. Just because it’s available doesn’t mean the unprepared should go for it right away, as it’s guarded by high-level enemies that won’t hesitate to attack.

A low requirement to wield it will help those who do end up braving the challenge and put them well ahead of the pack in terms of firepower. The low number may deter some looking for the biggest and best but it actually ranks among the top for one-handed weapons, freeing up the other hand for another key piece.
7Legendary Scimitar
While it rules the roost for one-handed weapons, the legendary scimitar can be tough to wield in the early game thanks to its Vigor requirement. Forcing players to upgrade a key mobility talent, the scimitar is sure to influence the way greenplayers form their combat style.
The best aspect of the weapon is the massive stun effectiveness on every swift swing of the blade. It combines damage and effects to make a unique weapon with various uses. Players will have to wade through the southeastern part of the Shore of the Tall Bones, searching for a broken bridge with a chest across it in order to add this to their arsenal.

6High King Vinbarr’s Sword
Skyrocketing to one of the most powerful weapons in the game, it’s no surprise that the previous high king wielded this powerful weapon. Speaking of, players are going to have to pry it from his hands after defeating him in battle, a main story quest that guarantees a big reward for the kingslayer.
Sporting some of the highest physical and armor damage in the game, not many enemies can stand against it. High King Vinbarr’s sword has the highest stun damage available, so even if it doesn’t take your foe out completely it opens them up to other attacks.

5Broadsword Of The Deceased King
Diving back into the 2 handed hitters, the Broadsword of the Deceased King goes all out on its offensive ability. Packing near top tier numbers for both damage stats while causing stuns with every hit, this weapon is worth the effort it takes to acquire it. When tasked with the ‘‘Champion of the Arena’’ side quest, wave upon wave of increasingly tough enemies will enter the arena to test your mettle.

The few who survive will be rewarded with the Broadsword of the Dying King. This weapon is among the best Greedfall has to offer and deals damage that can handle any enemy in the game.
4Forgotten Grand Sabre Of Al Saad
Al Saad’s weapon brings plenty of power to the table, though it comes at the cost of speed. Players who want to maximize the amount of damage they get from one swing should look to this weapon. Though, it will take some time to get used to the pace of its brutish swing down.Offering up the highest base damage of any weaponin the game, it’s easy to see why everyone’s rushing to the finish line to grab it.
You won’t have to travel off the main path to pick up this heavy hitter. Players can acquire it after defeating Nadaig Meneimen late in the game. This makes the end of ‘‘The Attack On San Matheus’’ one of the most rewarding quests in the game.
