It seems as though the industry is currently in a flux of remasters and remakes, with the likes ofResident Evil 2and3entering the arena in 2019 and 2020, respectively, as well as the return of the horror gemAlan Wake, and the upcomingGrand Theft Auto Trilogy. WiththeGTAremaster having some screenshots unveiled, many fans are excited about the opportunity to play a more modern version of these open world Rockstar classics. Or at least, most are excited, as it turns out that since the images were released, some have been pointing out glaring mistakes and bringing the game under some degree of scrutiny.

In a recent post on Twitter, in which the aforementionedGrand Theft Autoremaster screenshots were uploaded, a number of users have gone through with a figurative magnifying glass and have spotted some issues that are leaving some concerned about the quality of the upcoming trilogy. One user pointed out that some of the grass can be seen clipping through the sidewalk, while another showed a close up of the train in the screenshot, noting that it’s not aligned on the actual track.

Another still has pointed out that even thetimeless classicGTA: San Andreashas a pretty noticeable error in which Lance “Ryder” Wilson, a tertiary member of the Grove Street Gang who accompanies protagonist CJ in the earlier parts of the game, is holding a baseball bat in a very weird manner. While some in the comments have been mocking the screenshots, wondering whether the remaster is worth the price it will be upon release, others have tried to reassure that the game is not an “updated” version, or a remake, of the previous, so it’s likely that these will still be products of their time. One user did suggest that modders will likely come along to polish off some details.

TheGTATrilogy Remasteris beingdeveloped by Grove Street Games, a studio that has experience adapting and portingGrand Theft Autogames, hence the name of the company. It has been responsible in the past for bringingGTA 3to mobile devices, as well as making the tenth anniversary edition of 2002’sVice City.

It’s perhaps understandable that some would be concerned about these glaring errors given how beloved these games are, especially among older fans. With theGTA Trilogynow ready to be pre-loaded on Xbox, it’s almost time for the community to dive back into these worlds. Maybe there are some mistakes in the recent screenshots, but it’s unlikely to mar the inevitable success of this remaster.
