Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive EditionforNintendo Switchis just a week away from release, though some questions are still up in the air regarding the game’s remastered and new content. One such question about the new content regards that of the epilogue’s length, which has just been revealed.
An interview withXenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editiondirector Tetsuya Takahashi shed light on game details as well as the remaster’s development process. When speaking about the length of the new epilogue, “Future Connected,” Takahashi stated that additional content would be about 10 to 12 hours long. However, that length could be extended to 20 hours for players who decide to complete the side content within “Future Connected.”

This is just one of multiple topics discussed within the interview. Takahashi also discussed how the quality of the game’s sound has improved fromXenoblade Chronicles 2. Further, he mentioned that the development team had split into three sections, including staff forXenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, one for a new game, and one to work on both.
While “Future Connected” is the highlight of the game’s additions to the original Wii release,Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editionwill also be adding aTime Attack mode. As the name suggests, Time Attack challenges will require players to complete a challenge battle within a given amount of time to receive Nopon crystals (one of the game’s currencies).
However,Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editionismissing some content from the 3DS versionof the game. For instance, using amiibos in the 3DS game allowed the player to view in-game 3D models of amiibos and listen to music tracks. Despite being compatible with amiibos, the Switch remaster will be omitting these features.
On the other hand, theEnglish voice actors for Shulk and Meliawill be returning forXenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition’s epilogue.As such, the remaster is still holding true to the Wii version. While the presentation ofXenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editiondoesn’t quite reach the level of quality of brand-new Switch games, trailers thus far show that plenty of care went into the new rendition’s development.
