The developers keptHogwarts Legacy’s momentum going strong by bringing the game to PS4 and Xbox One a few months after its initial release.
Prior to their launch, there were concerns that theHogwarts LegacyPS4 and Xbox One portswould be vastly inferior to their PS5 and Xbox Series X counterparts. It quickly became apparent that while there were some minor compromises made to getHogwarts Legacyto run well on older hardware, the ports were otherwise a faithful recreation of the experience that fans were treated to on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
But even thoughHogwarts Legacyhas proven itself capable of running on older hardware, there have been some concerns that the Switch port will be especially lackluster. Switch ports of big open world games have had mixed results. Sometimes they are pulled off surprisingly well, but other times they have to make serious performance sacrifices. Official footage of theHogwarts LegacySwitch port is not available at the time of this writing, but someone that has gotten a copy of the game early has shared footage of it online. The footage is of an early part of the game and, while it doesn’t show all that much, it does seem to indicate thatHogwarts Legacyruns just fine on the Nintendo Switch.
Obviously,Hogwarts Legacyon the Switch is a graphical downgrade compared to its counterparts on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This was solidified when theHogwarts LegacySwitch screenshotswere posted online. Even so, it doesn’t seem to be all that egregious. Fans will definitely want to wait for more substantial footage of theHogwarts LegacySwitch port to be shared before they come to a conclusion, and it’s also worth pointing out that the larger, busier sections of the game still have yet to be revealed in any footage, leaked or otherwise. It’s possible that the game has major technical issues that have yet to be revealed, but it’s also possible that it runs perfectly fine.
