The release date forHorizon Forbidden Westis creeping ever closer. With that, Guerilla Games is showing off the beauty ofHorizon Forbidden Weston last-gen systems, as well as announcing the biggest milestone in the game development process that fans love to hear.
PlayStation has released a new blog post showing off gameplay footage ofHorizon Forbidden Westcaptured on the PS4 Pro. The short clips of the environment and combat shows off that the build for the last-gen consoles is still going to be some of the most beautiful imagery ever put on the PS4 and extends the swan song for one of the most popular game systems of all time.

New clips showAloy entering one of the Utaru encampments, Plainsong. This tribe’s penchant for lush, vibrant colors persist not only through their clothing but their establishments as well. The slow walk through their domain built atop an old-world satellite array is covered in tropical tree trunks and leaves whose color persists through being used as decoration for the tribe’s infrastructure.
Plainsong shows off Guerilla’s commitment to making the tribe encampments inHorizon Forbidden Westfeel more alive, but also that the team has stepped up the design of these cities. As Aloy stands to enjoy the scenery, fans are given a chance to take in how large this one encampment is.
Another clip in the blog post shows off combat on the PS4 Pro ofAloy fighting a Clamberjaw. Given what the audience is trained to look for from the many gameplay trailers captured on PS5, there are some visual bits that fans won’t get or perceive on the PS4/PS4 Pro version of the game. Despite that, the combat gameplay still looks impressive. The vibrant colors of the forest Aloy is fighting in feel more full than the forest areas ofHorizon Zero Dawn. There are fewer particle effects in the fire from the Blast Trap and Freeze Arrows, but their colors throughout are still sharp.
Guerrilla also announced in the post thatHorizon: Forbidden Westhas officially gone gold. Meaning the game is ready to print and ship and fans can have peace of mind that there won’t be any surprise delays from here on out. The last-gen build ofHorizon Forbidden Westlooks like it has the potential to captivate the audience visually.
Despite missing many of the key new-gen haptics and visual improvements, fans that have still beenunable to get their hands on a PS5will not have to worry much about not being able to feel the full effects.
