InDragon’s Dogma 2, there are plenty of beneficial items available for players to use, like the various Roborants that restore health and stamina and the useful Decoctions that can cure harmful Debilitations. However, some ofDragon’s Dogma 2’s most helpful items are its Camping Kits, as they are not only useful for restoring the party’s health but also for passing time. Since exploring at night inDragon’s Dogma 2is known for being even more dangerous than exploring during the day, using a Camping Kit can allow players to skip the night (so long as they aren’t ambushed) and prepare their party for the next day’s journey. Unfortunately, the game’s Camping Kits have been designed in such a way that sort of “pokes fun” at item hoarders, as they aren’t the typical consumable item, resulting in many players not taking advantage of them when they’re needed.

When it comes toopen-world games, especially open-world RPGs, there is typically a multitude of items to be acquired from chests and other containers, defeated enemies, and as rewards for completing quests. While some of these items are almost immediately useful, like weapons and armor, consumables are often considered best saved for when absolutely necessary. Items like potions, curatives, and other consumables that may provide helpful buffs are, after all, most beneficial when used during a fight against a powerful enemy or when death is knocking on the player’s door. Despite the benefits of consumable items, many players have difficulty deciding when they will prove most useful, so they hoard them instead. However, if players choose to hoardDragon’s Dogma 2’s Camping Kits rather than use them, they may feel rather silly once they discover an untold secret about them.
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Camping Kits Are Not Consumable
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Camping Kitsare deceptive. Just a few hours into the game, players may have already picked up several different versions of Camping Kits — like a Grass-Patterned Camping Kit or an Explorer’s Camping Kit — which seems to imply that they are a consumable item. They are not. In fact,Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Camping Kits have unlimited uses, so long as they aren’t destroyed by an ambush or somehow lost. This means players can use them as many times as they need to without them expiring.
WhileDragon’s Dogma 2doesn’t go out of its way to explain this hidden mechanic about Camping Kits, each one is very heavy, so the game obviously doesn’t expect players to carry very many of them. This alone is enough evidence to suggest that they are not consumable items and players can instead only keep one or two on them at all times to ensure they always have some way to set up camp while exploring to restore health, eat some food after watching one ofDragon’s Dogma 2’s live-action cooking scenes, or pass time. It’s a neat trick by Capcom to both poke fun at item hoarders and emphasize the impact of the game’s weight mechanics.
