Known as the Lord of Crags, Titan is a non-elemental Summon that players can acquire early inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. While Titan is traditionally depicted as an angry manifestation of the Earth element, his latest incarnation inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthlacks this aspect compared to his Eikonic form inFinal Fantasy 16.

Taking his name directly from Greek mythology, Titan is often depicted as a muscular giant with earthen brown skin, minimal clothing, and glowing ore and stones protruding through his body. Similarly to the thunderingRamuh as aFinal Fantasysummon, the Lord of Crags first appeared inFinal Fantasy 3as a summonable entity that Evokers and Summoners could call for help. Though Titan’s signature attack, Earthen Fury, can devastate land-based foes, it is useless against aerial enemies in titles such asFinal Fantasy 4. Over time, the Lord of Crags was given additional methods to deal with flying foes, such as the ability to conjure flying rocks around him and bolster his defenses. Both incarnations of Titan inFinal Fantasy 16andFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthare forces of nature that players should not underestimate.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Titan is the Guardian of the Grasslands

Once Cloud and the party elude Shinra’s grasp in Kalm, they find themselves in the Grasslands region to startChapter 2 ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, titled A New Journey Begins. Players looking to claim Titan’s Summon Materia can do so early on, and the method for acquiring him is similar to the one used inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. After meeting with Chadley at Bill’s Chocobo Ranch and getting the nearby tower online, Chadley will give Cloud access to his updated combat simulator, where Titan can be challenged in a three-on-one battle.

However, Titan is a formidable foe that inexperiencedFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthplayers may struggle with in Chadley’s combat simulation. But, by collecting intel from the threeDivine Sanctuaries located throughout the Grasslandsand solving the quick time event (QTE) puzzles, players will receive two benefits. Not only will Titan’s Summon Materia become more powerful, but the fight against him in Chadley’s combat simulator will become easier, depending on how many Sanctuaries are found. As a non-elemental summon, Titan is a reliable Summon for any player who needs an option for dealing with multiple enemies quickly.

Final Fantasy 16: The Villainous Hugo Kupka, Dominant of Titan

Dubbed the Warden of Earth, Titan is the Eikon used by the Dhalmekian Republic inFinal Fantasy 16. Even as the Blight made Valisthea one ofthe worst places to live in theFinal Fantasyseries, the brutish Hugo Kupka pursued his ambitions and crushed any who faced him. However, the Dominant of Titan had a soft spot for Benedikta Harmon, the Dominant of Garuda. Knowing this, Barnabas Tharmr of Waloed, the Dominant of Odin, used this to his advantage. Following Garuda’s demise at the hands of Ifrit, Barnabas manipulated Kupka into believing Cid had killed her, which resulted in Titan destroying Cid’s Hideaway, and a five-year pursuit of Clive and Jill.

Kupka and Clive faced off in a series of battles throughoutFinal Fantasy 16, in their human and Eikonic forms. Kupka’s fists became charged withEarth-aspected aether in hisFF16semi-prime form, and his punches created shockwaves that Clive had to dodge. After brutally disarming Kupka, Clive took Titan’s Eikonic power, which allowed him to use earthen shields and punches. Consumed by rage, Kupka retreated to Drake’s Fang, the Dhalmekian Mothercrystal, and transformed into Titan Lost after gorging on its remaining power. But Kupka’s lust for power and revenge would be his demise, and the Dominant of Titan succumbed to the crystal’s curse.
