Yoshihiro Togashi, the author ofHunter x Hunter, is one of the most incredible manga writers to have ever lived.Hunter x Hunteris an incredible story, touted by many to be one of the very best, if not the best, series to exist.Hunter x Hunterfollows the story of Gon, who sets out on a journey to become a hunter and find his father at the same time.
This legendary manga has been serialized for quite a long time and continues serialization even today. In fact, the last batch of 10 chapters for the manga dropped in 2022 and, recently, the author dropped hints about the return of the story as well. Now, in a shocking turn of events, the author of Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, has released one of the endings that he has prepared for the story.
Why Hunter X Hunter Author Togashi Revealed The Ending
SinceHunter x Hunteris still continuing, fans might be wondering as to why the author has dropped an ending for the story already. It isn’t too difficult for fans to connect the dots here.The author has been suffering from quite a lot of health-related issues as of late.In fact,Hunter x Hunter has hardly enjoyed a continued run in the Shonen Jump Magazine over the last couple of years. The last decade for theHunter x Huntermanga has not been ideal and much of that has to do with the health issues that the author is facing. The author has previously described the immense pain that he has to go through while illustrating his manga. At the same time, he does have a dream of finishing his manga, because it is, at the end of the day, his masterpiece that he holds very close to his heart.
A lot of the fans have previously asked why the author doesn’t just let someone else draw his manga for him and give the script of the story to the artist. However, these fans fail to understand that that is quite an insensitive thing to say. Hunter x Hunter is his own masterpiece and, for an author and illustrator, drawing their own manga is what they would want. Wanting the author to simply give his story to someone else to draw is not only selfish but also disrespectful. Togashi wants to finish his manga himself and that is always going to stay the case. Similarly, every other manga artist would want their story to be completed by themselves and not simply be given to someone else because that is their product of hardwork and love.
Coming back to the subject, the author of Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, has finally dropped an ending for the series simply because he has been suffering from tremendous health-related issues and, at the same time, he fears that if he were to be unable to continue, fans will be left without an ending. To remedy that, he has dropped an ending which, according to him, will serve as the main ending of the series in case something happens to him. The author does not want to leave his fans stranded and, to give them closure, he has dropped this incredible ending.
Togashi’s Many Ending Scenarios
In his message to the fans,Yoshihiro Togashi revealed that he has three endingsplanned for the series. According to him, Ending A has about an 80% satisfaction rate. The author explains that while this isn’t a very high satisfaction rate, he believes that the way he will work around this ending would be such that the vast majority of the fans will end up liking it and a small percentage might dislike it for some reason. According to him, Ending B will be somewhat similar to Ending A and will have both satisfied and dissatisfied fans.
According to Togashi, Ending C is going to be somewhat interesting and will have 90% dissatisfied fans and around 10% satisfied fans. As to why this still remains to be a possibility among the endings, the author goes on to explain that it is his preferred ending for the series.
However, the author goes on to say that he would like to draw an ending where he chooses neither of these and just arrives at a conclusion where he feels he is the most satisfied. To that end, the author also presents an Ending D, which he has now made public to the fans and according to him, is to be assumed as the official ending of the series if something were to happen to him.
Togashi goes on to state that he would never be able to forgive himself for leaving his fans stranded and, to fix that, he has dropped Ending D forHunter x Hunter.According to Yoshihiro Togashi, Ending D was once considered to be among the main endings for the story, however, it fell out at some point. It is still to be considered as the official ending if he, for some reason, cannot finish his story.
Hunter X Hunter’s Ending Explained
The ending forHunter x Hunteris painted near a lake. Near this lake, a young girl appears to be fishing. This girl is named Jin, and it appears that she ends up catching something on her endeavor. As she fishes out her find, she exclaims that she finally found the Lake Lord. She carries her lake lord to her mother and exclaims that she finally found it. This doesn’t appear to be very pleasing to her mother, but Jin goes on to exclaim that she should never tell her to go out and become a hunter again. This might be some sort of a challenge for young Jin placed by her mother, and it appears that she has successfully completed it. It must be noted that it’s quite clear that Jin does not want to become a Hunter, however, it seems that the mother wants her to take on this role.
Jin’s mother nods at her and after this, the daughter just walks away. Then, fans are introduced to Jin’s father. Jin’s mother says to her father that Jin absolutely does not want to become a Hunter, no matter what. She wants to stay on the island and inherit it from them, likely watching over it and growing old. It seems that Jin’s father doesn’t mind his daughter staying on the island and inheriting their place. However, this is dissatisfactory to the mother. She wants to know why Jin and her husband act like that. She mentions that they are like that possibly because of the blood of Grandma Noko and Grandma Mito. Fans do not know who these characters are just yet, however, perhaps the author will drop more context later on, which will make it clear as to who these people are.
It is then revealed to the fans that the woman is unaware of the fact that Grandma Noko and Grandma Mito are unrelated by blood. However, the father seems to be aware of this fact. The woman, still dissatisfied, goes on to state that Grandpa Gon was a great Hunter. This is where the fans will likely connect the dots because they know who Gon is. It appears that the womanis the child of Gon, either by blood, or by marriage. Gon has already made it as a very great Hunter at this point. This means that young Jin is the granddaughter of Gon, the beloved protagonist ofHunter x Hunter.
Despite not being anywhere close, Jin still hears this conversation from the forest. Her father comments that she has very keen senses to be able to hear it from so far away. She once again explains that she will never leave the island and that she intends to stay there.
She then goes to see Mito’s shop, which has been functioning for many years now. In the shop, the Lake Lord has been cut cleanly and the different parts of it have been separated. This is when young Jin reveals that her mom doesn’t understand the fact that whenever Grandpa Gon speaks about his many adventures as a Hunter, Grandma Noko simply moves away. She doesn’t seem to care much about his adventures and, at the same time, it is also revealed to the fans that Jin doesn’t seem to be all that keen on abandoning her loved ones.
She wants to stay with the people who she wants to stay with forever. Going away for months or years and then returning once and then leaving again isn’t something that appeals to her. This is why she does not want to become a Hunter like Gon and it is made clear that the life that she wants to lead is completely different.
Then, a chubby child walks in, and the two share excitement over catching the Lake Lord. The child mentions that he wants to honor the entire village now that the Lake Lord has been caught and Jin agrees to do it. She then goes on to say that she always wants people who she loves close to her and the young child agrees to this message. The two then start cooking together with big smiles on their faces. A bird flies over their heads and then it is revealed that the three main characters in this ending are the son of a particular individual, the daughter of a particular individual, and the grandchild of another, and that they all live in different places.
It isn’t revealed as to who these kids are children and grandchildren of. However, the author leaves it very ambiguous. Of course, it is likely going to be one of the main characters so fans know that they are likely related to either Gon, Killua, or either Kurapika or Leorio.
In the final sequence of the chapter, a mysterious character appears to be observing this scene unfolding. Fans do not know who this character is, however, if one would have to guess,it could be Killua, simply because of the mysterious aura that his character has always possessed.
