Developer Mediatonic’s unique spin on the battle royale genre,Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, has just released for PlayStation 4 and PC, and it is already proving to be quite popular. Indeed, a truly staggering number of players are currently flocking to this new title, thanks in no small part toFall Guysbeing offered as one of thefree PS Plus Games for August, and some of these fans may wonder if it possible to play the game with their friends across platforms.
As the developer indicated would be the case back in July,Fall Guyshas launched without cross-platform play. However, all may not be lost for those PS4 players that had hoped to battle their friends with PCs, and vice versa, because Mediatonic has additionally stated that cross-play is something it “really wants to do in the future.” While this statement cannot be taken as definitive confirmation thatFall Guyswill receive cross-platform support, it at least confirms that it is on the developer’s radar.

That said, there is something that Mediatonic will definitely need to address before it worries about implementing cross-play, and that is stabilizing theFall Guysservers, which have been down intermittently since launch. While it is certainly not uncommon to see server issues arise alongside the release of a new multiplayer game, especially one that many players can access for “free,” the developers will undoubtedly want to get things in proper working order before it looks to expand the multiplayer features.
This is especially true because the title is currently facing some backlash, which the game’s official Twitter account has described as aFall Guysreview bomb, from players that are frustrated about the state of the servers. Ultimately, these server-related negative reviews are unlikely to have a major impact on the overall success of the game, but the existence of the aforementioned tweet does make it clear that Mediatonic is fully aware that some players are less-than-pleased aboutFall Guys' launch.
This is not to say that the only criticisms that players are leveling againstFall Guysare connected to its current server problems, though, as some are taking issue with its team challenges and number of stages. However, there are indeed manyFall Guysfansthat are having a wonderful time with the game, and hopefully cross-play will allow them to enjoy it with their friends, regardless of their preferred platform, sooner rather than later.
