Blumhouse has had a great 2023.M3GANandThere’s Something Wrong With The Childrenwere released in the first few months of the year, and now the horror production company is gearing up for the much-anticipated October release of David Gordon Green’sThe Exorcist: Believer.

Fans still love revisiting some of the best past Blumhouse horror releases, including 2017’sHappy Death Dayand the 2019 sequelHappy Death Day 2 U. Both movies follow college student Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) as she fights the Babyface killer in a time loop. Fans want to know if there will be aHappy Death Day 3since the previous two movies in the franchise are so beloved and it seems like there is a lot of story left to be told.

After Dr. Butler murders his own wife, Tree murders him.

The time travel reactor turns on and Tree goes back in time to September 19th, which is the period that she wants to be in. The finalHappy Death Day 2 Uscene is as hilarious as the rest of the movie. After agents tell Carter, Tree, and their friends that they want to find someone who they can use the time travel machine on, Tree decides that Kappa Pi Lambda sorority leader Danielle Bouseman (Rachel Matthews) should fill this role. Since Tree can’t stand her, this was a perfect idea. Danielle yells when she awakens in her room, which proves that the cycle will start all over again.

Is Happy Death Day 3 In The Works?

Happy Death Day 3isn’t currently happening, which is unfortunate news for horror fans who would love another movie in the franchise. There has been talk about a third movie for a while now, though, which is why fans are still curious. In June 2022,Jason Blum mentionedHappy Death Day 3in an interview and said that he and Christopher Landon had lunch and talked about the movie.

As Christopher Landon said in a February 2023 interview withThe Hollywood Reporter,“It’s actually a bigger movie than the previous two films, and that’s part of the issue, ultimately. This third movie needs a bigger budget, but since the second movie didn’t perform as well as the first, it’s a tall order. But I’m still holding out hope that Universal will give me a chance because it would be a really fun conclusion.”

Also in February 2023, Landon told Cinemablend.com, “But I think that Jessica [Rothe] and Jason [Blum] and a bunch of people who worked on the film we’re all kind of still holding out hope that maybe they’ll come around to it. But again, we’re all here and ready and willing. It just depends on what the studio wants.”

Could Happy Death Day 3 Crossover With Freaky?

For a while now, horror fans have wondered if there could be aHappy Death Day 3crossover withFreaky. The latter is one of thebest 2020 horror moviesand stars Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn as a teenage girl and serial killer named The Blissful Butcher who switch places. After all, these are both campy and fun horror movies made by the same filmmaker. In fact,Happy Death DaystarJessica Rothe commented on the idea of a crossoverand sounded interested in the idea.

Christopher Landon answered a question about aHappy Death Day 3/Freakycrossover in his February 2023 interview withThe Hollywood Reporter. There is no official movie in the works, although it sounds like the writer and director would be happy to do it.

Landon said, “Look, Jason Blum is the puppet master. He’s pulling all the strings. So if anybody knows, it’s him. I know that Jessica, Kathryn and I would love to get together and make something absolutely ridiculous. So it’s possible, but we really haven’t had an actual creative conversation about doing something like that. I just know that I would do anything to work with both of those people again.”
